What could be better than a beer clinic? This is a traditional Austrian tavern situated in the heart of Vienna. Try the dunkles (dark) beer for a change. Hearty Austrian food. Try the bauernschmaus if you are very hungry and like meat/sausage, it comes with a dumpling. Friendly staff and lots of interesting rooms.

Downside: Gösser is now part of a the Heineken chain and its beer is pretty much the same as most of the other Austrian brands in this chain. For a good beer try one of the microbreweries such as Siebensternbräu on Siebensterngasse 19 (7th district), Fischerbräu on Billrothstrasse 17 (19th district) or my own local, the Medl on Linzerstrasse 275 (14th district).
