Food is not Lisbon's strongpoint, but savour the glorious custard cream pies at the cafe Antiga Confeitara de Belém.

I beg to differ, food IS one of Lisbon's strongpoints, either national cuisine or foreign fare (Indian, Japanese, vegetarian). The Antiga Confeitaria de Belém is near many riverside monuments, Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (a monastery) and Centro Cultural de Belém (a cultural centre) amongst them.
Nonsense! There are so many restaurants offering excellent and very varied stuff! There is so much fish to choose from, and then there are also quite a few meat dishes on offer. Go for one of the dishes among the "Prato do dia" and avoid touristy places with menus in English and French and German. A place where Lisboetas go is always a safe bet!Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk
