Few locals drink in "the Tal" - try a relaxed beer with the Bavarians at a Paulaner pub. If you must drink in the Tal - try Weisses BrauHaus for a Schneider-Weisse and spanferkel :)

I absolutely agree and I would like to add the Hotel Schlicker, opposite Weisses Brauhaus and just a few doors from the Paulaner pub. I shall be staying there for the Oktoberfest soon. The food in Paulaner is good too. I am not too keen on Spanferkel (suckling pig), I prefer Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle with lots of lovely crackling).
