Cliche or not, Peking duck is a must. Try it on a Beijing scale at the 2,000-seat Quanjude Peking Duck Restaurant, which claims to be the world’s biggest.

Quanjude is good, but very expensive and often full. I think the duck at Guo Lin is excellent. This restaurant is a chain, but not chain-like at all. There are several across the city. Excellent service and a full duck for 48 or 68RMB for the top quality stuff. The service is generally excellent and the restaurant is very nice.
There are many QuanJuDe restaurant franchises around the city. It's good but not really worth the extra price (you'll pay much more in QuanJuDe than any other duck restaurant and the price increase isn't really matched by quality, in my opinion).
