Ubud is around an hour by car from the airport, and about 40 minutes from Sanur. Catch a taxi of bemo, or a shuttle bus from Kuta.

Not really a hill-town and can be a hustle but still worth staying here - preferably in a near (walkable) village where you can escape the noise. Cafe Wayan is still the best eatery in town and can arrange various styles of accommodation (with transfers and brilliant Ibu Wayan sourced food included).
