A cycle (or walk) along the canals in London will give you a different view of the city, and there are some great places to stop off along the way: start with a coffee in Angel, stop for a stroll around Victoria Park, and end up in Limehouse, from where you can cycle on to Canary Wharf, and even Greenwich, if you want - where you could have a nice lunch.

Cycling west we cycled from North London to Bath mainly following Cycle route 4 (which runs from Greenwich) along the Thames through Richmond, Kingston and on to Bray where we stopped off at the Waterside in for dinner and the lovely Rooftops hotel - amazing! We carried on the next day and turned onto the Kennet and Avon canal staying in B&Bs along the way - lots of pub lunches - frankly the best 4 days holiday i've had! A totally relaxing time and a different view of the country. Getting the train back to london Paddington was really easy too!Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk
