Hacienda Los Gorriones are two 'cortijos' (typical Andalusian cottages) tucked away in olive-dotted mountains in the Sierra Norte (about 1.5 hours north from either Sevilla or Cordoba).
The cottages are located in an area of dramatic landscapes, and within an area renowned throughout Spain for its Iberian cured and fresh meats. The owners of the cottages also run a ham drying facility, and for a very reasonable price you can enjoy excellent Iberian fare in the barbecue.
The cottages make an excellent detour for people visiting Sevilla and Cordoba, and are ideal for people wanting to go walking in the hills. There are very few tourists, but the cottages are often booked by locals for the weekend.
They are both family and pet friendly.
Great cheap hostel near Gare du Nord.
Le Montclair Montmartre, 62, Rue Ramey, 75018 Paris
Stay at the Paix Republique hotel. Book room 606 on the top floor, which will give you views of the Eiffel Tower and the Sacre Coeur.
Hotel Therese in the 1st arrondissement - cute, inexpensive, personal hotel with an unbeatable central location.
For game viewing, this park is better than Kruger. Accommodation in the park and outside in Mtubatuba was good but a professional guide is a must.
We were lucky to have Jeff Asherwood who made our trip memorable. His spotting skills and knowledge are legendary and he worked hard to find every animal we wanted to see. An excellent trip, first-class food and, best of all, we learned a lot while having a great deal of fun.
If you want a cheap way to stay in Paris, use the Citea hotels - there are several dotted around the city and for around £40 per night you get a comfortable, basic self-catering apartment!
Some of the Citea hotels also have a free-for-residents swimming pool, and they all have a breakfast service available for a small fee.
I chose this hotel for two reasons. Firstly, it was within walking distance of the Gard de Nord. Secondly, it would appeal to my wife because because she lives in the kitchen. Whatever the brochure or internet descriptions are like, you are mostly booking blind.
The Flora is reasonably priced, our room was on the small side but clean and pleasant. We were intrigued to visit the basement for breakfast but it was lovely and the bowls of hot chocolate were exquisite accompanied by croissants and chocolate pastries.
Four years ago, I went to a Six Nations' rugby match. Our agent booked us into the Terminus Nord hotel, opposite the Gard du Nord station. Having known Paris well, the venue would not have been my first choice. I was in for a pleasant surprise.
The hotel was a gentle walk from the Eurostar platform: our room was comfortable and spacious, the staff obliging, and the buffet breakfast was excellent.
The price was also reasonable for the standard of accommodation. Adjoining the hotel, there was a deservedly popular, Art Noveau retaurant. A strenuous walk took you Montmatre and the Galeries Lafayette but the conveniently close Metro took you quickly to all the main attractions of Paris.
Grand Hotel de Paris. Across the road from Gare de l'Est, perfect for any sightseeing/shopping.
Must have the world's smallest lift, two can get in with a squeeze, but that just adds to its charm. Five-minute walk from the canal. Very low cost.
I felt perfectly comfortable during my stay in Venice. We were a group of people and our trip was arranged by a local tour operator that I found surfing the net. I contacted them by email and accommodation and all ground services were perfectly organised (boat trip to the islands, restaurants, guide and museums). Since I was the leader of a group of 23 people I felt a bit stressed until our vacation was over, but now I can tell you that it was brilliant! So do not miss the boat trip to Murano, Burano and Torcello, and ask for a trip off the beaten track... far and away from the crowds. They can handle it!

This is simply the best hotel in Buenos Aires! The location is awesome, the staff are out of this world and above all, the decor is out of this world. Book ahead as they tend to get full way in advance (they have only 4 rooms). Your stay here is guaranteed to make you feel wonderful, I cannot wait to go back!

Stay at the Hotel Hermitage Gantois. It is a superb and tranquil hotel, that dates back to the 15th Century, when it functioned as a hospice and convent.
The chapel, courtyards and other historical features, including an original ward remain, although now used as meeting rooms, with 21st century facilities.
The hotel can be visited every Tuesday afternoon, when a well infomed local guide conducts a fascinating 2 hour tour of the interior.
Stay at a two bedroom apartment at Citadines Lille for fantastic location, brilliant spacious accommodation with superb facilities at an absolutely bargain price.
Stay at L'Hermitage Gantois for that special weekend.
Four star luxury with food to match, but you can sleep in a nun's cell with a chapel across the corridor and a gruesome medical museum on the ground floor.
Walkable from the station and totally unlike any other four star hotel you can reach by Eurostar.
I have just spent the most amazing week at this house. It is directly across from Blaven (one of the black cuillins) and a one-minute walk from the loch. The house is fantastic with a large decking area to sit and admire the view. There is so much walking and climbing to be done from the house.
This magnificent place called Ghannah Lodge is situated in Dolphin village near Nuweiba port. It is a project for sustainable development build by a Belgian non profit organisation.
The place earns its name: Ghannah which means paradise. The accommodation is clean, spacious and with a magnificent sea view. The sanitation is better than in any other place I visited in all Egypt.
The Bedouin atmosphere is real, it reflects exactly what people are looking for when they visit the Sinaï to meet the local people and to experience the real taste of the Sinai Desert.
The lodge offers every a meal every evening in a Bedouin tent in the oasis. In the morning, the smell of the bread on the fire made by the bedouin women wakes you tenderly and prepares you for taking breakfast near the sea.
Ghannah Lodge left me with very wonderful memories: people with a very big sense of hospitality, a place of peace on earth, the memory of something real without the feeling of being only a tourist! I think it is a place you can recommend to anybody visiting Sinaï.

In Lalibela we stayed at Blue Lal Hotel and at Yemhera Hotel.
The Yemhera has bungalows in the grounds and you can wander in the grounds without harassment. We visited the Blue Lal most days for toast and honey.
Lalibela is also the place to sample Tej, a honey wine, while enjoying the local music and dancing, an experience in itself.

In Addis Ababa we stayed at the Ghion Hotel, useful for its central location. We didn’t use the large grounds and swimming pool but I think that we would have appreciated them if we had stayed longer.
