This is a caravan park and recreation reserve where you can pitch a tent. For camping without the hassle and its close to the airport. Relatively inexpensive, within easy reach of the city and Glenelg the most popular tourist spot. They have cabins but who needs them when with your small tent and their fantastic kitchen, shower blocks, tv room, and the sun your set for a comfortable stay. It's right on the beach, surrounded by fencing and the restaurants and hotels of Glenelg, are a ten minute walk away. Great for families and backpackers.

This hotel is part of the Habaguanex group which a friend recommended to me. You should pre-book in the UK as you will get a better rate than you will otherwise. Located close to the Plaza Vieja it is an art nouveau style building - we had a beautifully furnished room on the top floor which was vast. Breakfast was good too. It was very tranquil in the first week in November but at peak times it might be less so. Good view from the roof terrace.
This hotel is in a beautiful and peaceful spot, owners are great hosts, food excellent, accommodation comfortable and well appointed. A wonderful place to relax and unwind. What more can you want?

Northbridge is a suburb of Perth which is the place to go for bars and restaurants be they Italian, French, seafood or Asian and everything in between. Catch the free CAT bus from the city and they take you straight there, or you can walk it easily from the city centre too.
On sunday catch a train to Cottesloe and head for the beach and have a few drinks watching the sunset in the Cottesloe Beach Hotel.
Do it!

Hawthorn House, in Kenmare, is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Together with 3 friends, I stayed here earlier this year on a golfing holiday. Mary, who runs the B&B, is wonderful and I want to go back tomorrow.
It is walking distance from all the 30 bars and restaurants in Kenmare.

Having had more than a few ski holidays with the major holiday companies I wanted something cheaper, and the only alternative I could find was to use the big companies to book self-catering accomodation. Then I discovered the French youth hostel website (FUAJ). Cheap accomodation and the most amazing food - and lots of it! One year I couldn't take a whole week off to go boarding so had a long weekend, something that is much harder to organise through the big companies, who tend to deal only in week-long packages.
I speak a little French while the friends I went with don't, but they didn't find it weird being in a hostel where everyone else was French. Yes, you have to organise your own transport but in my experience more and more people are doing this anyway.
Very friendly, safe, clean & cheap.
It is by far the best place we stayed whilst trekking across Vietnam - Cambodia.
The owners are simply wonderful.
Inexpensive lodging near four major ski resorts in Vermont. Great pub and friendly international crowd. Hostel guests are afforded use of the same facilities as the higher priced hotel next door. Lift tickets were cheaper at the reception than at the ski resorts themselves.

I recently stayed at the Oasis Hostel in Seville.
While I was there, my boyfriend was woken up at 3am by someone who said the bed he was in (and paid for) was hers. Obviously, there had been a double booking (in fact there were double bookings every night we were
there). However, during this mix up, the manager had gone into his 'safe' (which is allocated to the bed) and taken out a number of his personal items (which we did not notice until the following day). My boyfriend went to ask for them back and the manager said he had
lost them - but hoped they would turn up. Unfortunately, they did not and to be honest the staff did not really take the matter very seriously; they did not seem to understand why we might be offended that the manager had gone into our ‘safe’. Also, instead of replacing or refunding the cost of his UK electric shaver for example, they suggested they buy him a significantly cheaper Spanish (i.e. incompatible) version. Finally, the manager said he
would return the cost of the items once we could
'prove' how much they cost - after we had left to go home, which left me slightly nervous. This happened over a month ago, and we have just received payment for the items ‘lost’. Not entirely satisfactory to be honest. Thought it was worth sharing…
Lezard Bleu is an amazing guesthouse in the Oranjezicht area of Cape Town. The hosts, Chris and Nikki, are extremely welcoming - on arrival after a long flight from London we were sat on the outside terrace and given complimentary tea, biscuits and fresh fruit. It set the tone for a wonderful week. Chris is a real foodie (a former chef) who made amazing breakfasts and gave us great advice on restaurants in the region. The house and rooms are beautiful and set around a tranquil garden with views of Table Mountain. There's a pool, a wonderfully relaxing communal area with honesty bar, and one of the rooms is in a treehouse. We stayed there and had amazing views over the city.

My wife and I have stayed at Elizabeth's Garden Cottage and found it quite delightful. The yard is beautiful and full of flowers. The cottage is comfortable, reasonable and well equipped. Kenmare is charming and nearby.

I can recommend this hostel as the rooms are at the top of the house and the views are great from the windows. It costs about 10 pounds a night give or take a little and is situated on the river.
This is a terrific little bed and breakfast run by a really friendly and helpful couple. Dead quiet location in a village 10 mins from Alençon and the A28 motorway. The gardens are beautifully kept (and large, with plenty of seats and tables) with view of the forest.
There are shops and a little restaurant-bar nearby that is a throwback to the time when good country cooking at low prices was the norm in many parts France. Bikes, horseriding, walking paths and all that sort of stuff kept us amused, as well as sightseeing.
Alençon itself is a lovely town if you take the trouble to go into the centre instead of passing by on the route nationale.

Local town near Breckenridge, you can stay here much cheaper than staying near the slopes in Breck itself. Also useful as a base for Keystone, A-Basin and Copper.
You don't even need to drive as the free Summit Stage will deliver you to all the resorts, although a car would be handy. If you don't have a car stay on Main Street as it's quite a walk to the restaurants / bars from anywhere else.
Great DJ bar/restaurant right at the bottom of the Asagai snowboard park, part of the Naeba resort in Niigata. It's actually a short walk up the hill from Naeba itself (for those of you that have never been, an all-in ski pass for Naeba, next door Tashiro and, best of all, Kagura is a whole recommendation in itself). The space itself is pretty rough 'n' ready but on a good weekend the DJs they get in from Tokyo put most Japanese après-ski to shame. Opens late-ish December I think.

This is a great two-star hotel (breakfast only - quiet bar) brilliantly located less than 100m from the foot of La Flegere so it's an easy walk even in boots. The Flegere ski area is wonderful for skiers up to good intermediate skill level, with easy access, short queues, a range of eateries and offering wonderful views of the Mt Blanc range to the south. The hotel is simple but very comfortable and cosy and a number of the rooms have balconies with incredible views of Mt Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi.
There are two ski hire shops close by which offer discounts to guests. The free bus stops right outside the hotel so access to the rest of the Chamonix Valley ski areas couldn't be easier. To top it off, there is a truly lovely tree-lined snowy walking trail between Les Praz and Chamonix central (25mins) which winds it's way along the banks of the River l'Arve and is well lit at night - a terrific way to ease those weary legs at the end of the day as you head into town to party.
If you don't want the nightlife, the Hotel Eden (50 metres walk) offers a really good restaurant with a fine wine list. Parking is easy at the Hotel Les Rhododendrons or the hotel staff can organise a pick up from Geneva.
Prices: 53 euros single, up to 118 euros for a quadruple room. Booking is easy, efficient and reliable using the web.

We have just got back from four magical days in Budapest, staying at this brilliant apartment. The place is fantastic, and Tomas is a very good host who can tell you places to visit. Its location is fantastic, in a beautiful old building with a cafe at the bottom. Convenient! Honestly, look no further, this is the place to go.

Welcoming three-star hotel in a delightful location on a canal and five minutes' walk from the centre of the town. Family-friendly with pleasant bedrooms and a sunny breakfast room. Reasonably priced too. Staying here was an altogether enjoyable experience.

A hotel and restaurant on Ieper's main square. Old Tom offers decent accommodation at an attractive price, and the restaurant does some of the best (traditional Flemish) food in town. Convenient for the local attractions, and the welcome is friendly.
