The best restaurant on the one-road town centre in Elk, overlooking breathtaking cliffs, surf and driftwood. Great service and often live music too.
The 'inn' itself looked good, though we didn't stay.

Very friendly hostel in a former squat, with basic but clean rooms and a lovely cafe/bar and garden.
Our scruffy group of six was greeted with tea and a chat by the manager bloke, who also rents out bikes to explore the city.

Sparse but immaculate rooms with powerful aircon and amazing views. Friendly staff and fellow travellers. A truly stunning roof terrace. Walking distance from the Long Bar at Raffles without the high prices; right next to an art gallery too. Ace.

It's not the Taj, but it's spotless, comfortable, quiet (a blessing!) and very close to the airport. If you have an early morning flight, check in here the night before rather than drive to the airport for three hours on your last day. Good breakfast, too.

The Marennes region is an area of France surrounding the beautiful town of Marennes on the west coast. I recommend it because I spent several months there in the summer of 2009 and adored everything it had to offer. There are beaches in abundance and many exciting things to see and do, including the Île d'Oléron, France's second largest Island.

We have just returned to Le Marche and this wonderfully preserved old farmhouse. The owners have restored it to its former glory and its sits on a hill overlooking dramatic countryside and medieval villages. The apartment was stylishly furnished with lots of interesting old features. The wifi, DVDs and many books and maps were a plus.
If you go you must visit the incredible Hells gorge and the crumbly little hermit who has lived there for over 30 years single handedly building the church of San Leonardo

I recommend taking a seat on the decking above the beach at the surf break Supertubes, where you can watch the surfers and dolphins share the waves and enjoy the sea together.

A bargain of a three-star hotel in the bohemian Zizkov area of Prague, just three tram stops from the centre and walking distance from many bars and clubs. Great breakfast and always a personal welcome from the extremely friendly manager. I now always stay here when I visit Prague. The most I've paid is 30 euros a night, and for a better standard than many other budget hotels at twice the price.

I went to Cannes in the French Riviera and that was wonderful! I rented a flat, 50m from the beach, at a budget price.
The owner is a lovely granny who rent for a month or more. That's really hard to find in the French Riviera.
We could go to the beach on foot and wash after at the flat, it even has a bath for the children. We had breakfast seeing the sea and we had dinner on the big balcony (weather is blamy at night in this area).
I really recommend it. It was a great holiday.

The location of the hotel is excellent for a sightseeing trip to Istanbul, being approximately two minute's walk to Sutanahmet Square (Blue Mosque Aya Sophia and Topkapi Palace) in one direction and about five minutes to the Grand Bazaar in the other. Breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace that has an amazing view of some of the above mentioned sites, the Bosphorus straight and its famous bridge, and the Asian side of the city. We arrived early at the hotel, and while the room was being prepared for us, we were invited to relax and enjoy a complimentary Turkish coffee on the terrace - unforgetable. The level of professionalism of all, staff and management, combined with a genuine hospitability, made our five day stay at the hotel a memorable experience. Everybody was very helpful, trying hard to make our vacation as enjoyable as possible. The hotel is stylishly decorated and kept very clean. Our room was elegant, spacious, and quiet. We arranged transfers from and back to the airport with the hotel and this ran very smoothly. We highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely come back.

This small bed & breakfast is a hidden gem in Puerto Iguazu, a little bit out of the center but a short stroll to the bus that brings you to the falls. Host John Fernandes is always ready to help his guests, and he provides a "cocktail hour" in the evening on a porch that faces the exotic little jungle that he grew in the backyard. The rooms are clean, spacious and appealing. The place helped make our visit to the falls a magical experience.
My girlfriend and I wanted to take a spur-of-the-moment trip to Barcelona, and we got this great tip from my cousin: renting an apartment for the stay. I just went to the website and before I knew it, we had a studio apartment in Barri Gotic waiting for us. It's a central, vibrant area near Las Ramblas and the beaches, and was just awesome. The site offers great value for money and was so easy to use.
This is an old Kyoto merchant’s house (Machiya) which was very recently (January 2010) restored to its original splendor, but with modern western amenities in the kitchen, bath and toilet. The house has two bedrooms, a dining room, kitchen, toilet and bath. It is a small house on a very narrow cobbled lane close to the Shirakawa canal. The location was fantastic and resonably priced. The owners showed us how to use the house and how to find the nearby markets, cafes and restaurants. It was a really great experience, alot nicer than staying in some of the hotels we experianced on our trip.

Torreprima is a comfortable farmhouse, only 3km away from San Gimignano, which has medieval origins. It sits on top of a hill overlooking the surrounding Val d'Elsa, Tuscan countryside with olive groves and vineyards.
It's ideal for a relaxing fun holiday and contact with nature. It also has garden, pool and ping-pong, and there's a riding school nearby.

We booked an apartment in their house and the place was great. We had a great apartment on the top floor with great sea view.
With a prime location on one of the best beaches in Koh Phangan, the Rasananda is pure class. The rooms all have private gardens with outside showers, the food is amazing and there's a nice spa. Intimate enough for a honeymoon, but it's not cut off from the rest of the island. You can wander next door or up the road to find cool bars and cheap eats. Getting there is a bit of a nightmare if you have to take the minibus across the island's interior, but the hotel has its own speedboat which can do transfers from Samui. Classy way to arrive!
We spent a wonderful week in Instanbul staying at pasha!place. The apartment is perfectly situated next to Galata Tower, restaurants and shopping areas and is walking distance to Galata bridge. The apartment is beautifully renovated and furnished with much taste. And there is an absolutely fantastic view out of the livingroom window across the water to the Topkapi, Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque!
A luxury apartment with stunning sea views on the amazing island that is Ciovo. We've stayed in many places in Croatia over the years and have yet to find an apartment as luxurious and reasonably prices as this one. Only €50 is an absolute bargain for this! Owners even collected us from the airport, and were very friendly and relaxed. Cheers guys, we'll be back.

A great place to take a break from the heat and enjoy an inexpensive ice-cream, snack or fresh fruit juice at Le Jardin cafe in the lobby. The hotel is now run by Sofitel but it's steeped in history and has hosted many famous guests.
