This is not a fancy hotel, but it is more than adequate. I stayed there for 3 nights. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. I was here on business and didn't choose the hotel (the company I was working for booked it) but I was satisfied with it. There are 2 nearby Metro stations (Republique and Temple, Republique connecting to more lines and making it very convenient to get to and from the area), many shops and restaurants in nearby walking distance. The breakfast was basic, but good.
The best place I have stayed in my entire life. These bungalows are on the remote Thai island of Phayam, which I discovered after the Guardian recommended it. These bungalows are based on buffalo bay, a deserted and beautiful beach(my 'The Beach.') The owner "Archanpan" is the secret ingredient. He is honestly one of the most amazing people I have ever met, considerate, interesting and spiritual. Highlights of this place include, amazing hospitality, cheap prices and also his pet crocodile that lives under his home. Staying here was magical, I recommend it to everyone.

We stayed with Piste and Peaks in Chalet Diana for our 2nd holiday in Bansko and it was better than ever.
You can see big improvements in Bansko after just one year and the slopes were very well looked after. The lessons with Ski Mania were excellent - the instructors were great with the kids and they really improved over the week.
The food was great (I think they won an award for the cooking) and the sauna was just what we needed at the end of the day!
I think we are going to join them in Italy next year but we'll be back to Bansko for another low cost ski holiday with the kids very soon.

In a quiet corner of Sussex is Hidden Spring Vinyard where they produce wine, cider (apple and pear) and fruit juice, all organic and all delicious. The family that run the farm are friendly and happy to provide tastings, the cider being the best!
There are also two fields to camp in which are family-friendly, secluded and peaceful, and you can even hire a yurt. The best bit is they allow fires in the provided fire pits. Very unusual for campsites but makes the evening special. They sell firewood too.
Easy access to the rest of Sussex make it a good base for a break, or easy to get to to buy the produce.

This tip is a comment on the story by Aida Edemariam in the travel section on 4 July 2009 about the Agia Fotini Taverna and the couple who run it, Stavros and Vicki Perakis.
My wife, Karen, and I live in Wollongong Australia, about 80km south of Sydney where Vicki grew up and Stavros lived for about 10 years. I worked with Stavros in the Abrasive Blasting game and got to know them and their extended Greek families and friends very well. When they went back to to Crete to take over the family taverna they always said we must come and visit. Well in 2002 we did just that and spent two weeks with them and a week on Santorini.
You always get the cliches and all the Greeks told us before we left "you'll love it, it'll be the best holiday you will have" and we went "yeah, right". But I must admit they were right, it was sensational.
The trip to the taverna was a holiday in itself and it is perched right on the waters edge. Karen and I stayed in the "honeymoon" suite (inside facilities) and my brother stayed next door. From there we ventured out and did all the touristy sites as nowhere is far away on Crete. When we decided to stay in a typical day was; late up, dip in the ocean, Stavros would call us in for a cooked breakfast then read a book, walk on the beach, try a Mythos (local beer), more food, chat to the customers and end up about 1am sipping Ouzo and Raki with any late comers. We even helped them out around the tables when things got busy.
It was and still is the best holiday we've had and we would like to thank Aida for telling it just like it is.

This is a wonderful place, so chilled, so international. We are not in the first flush, y'know, but when we were here we just didn't care. Sharing food on the decking (there are windchimes, a hammock, and aromatic herbs!), with elderly Aussies, alternative young Germans, and a Swiss school leaver, I felt, oh, just bloody fantastic. A and I lounged around in thermal pools at Tokaanu, two miles away, and then we all did the legendary Tongariro crossing, with advice and transport laid on by the hostel. Afterwards, we sat around comparing injuries and generally talking international bollocks. Free range eggs, assiduous recycling, herbs you can pick and add to your dinner- just try it. You'll remember what you were like before you got old and boring.

Last summer I went on holiday with my familiy in San Remo, a lovely little city in the North of Italy. We choose to stay at “Le Terrazze”, a holiday complex with comfortable studios or two-roomed apartments in the peace of a garden full of lemon trees and lots of other plants. The apartments are new and very well furnished with air conditioning, TV and Internet connection. They all have a little terrace with seeview and private parking. My family and I especially enjoyed the barbecue zone which is among the lemon trees. Also we appreciated that the complex isn't too big and not so close to the crowd of the city centre. It is very quite and relaxing. “Le Terrazze” is also very near to the most popular beach of Sanremo named “Tre Ponti” where you find rocks and sand and limpid water. My family and I have loved as well the new bike lane that goes from San Remo to Santo Stefano al Mare and where you can walk or run with the beautiful coast on your side.

The jacuzzi hot tub with its open countryside views is just to die for at sunset. If you are travelling with children like us the private pool and enclosed garden are perfect. The villa has all the luxuries you would expect from a modern villa, such as washing machine, full cooking facilities, even a play station for the kids.
We stayed here for a week,the owner was very helpful, met us from the bus, made sure we knew how everything worked in the apartment and where the most convenient shops, restaurants, etc, were located (very close).He also allowed us to leave our cases in the apartment on our final day, when we left Venice in the evening. We liked the view of the canal bridge from the windows, with all its comings and goings. Cheap,in quiet zone and three minutes' walk from Piazzale Roma or train station, all the main tourist attractions were near and could be reached by foot or waterbus stop (very close).

Leave the car and use the excellent public transport to the Seiseralm - a fairyland plateau of mountains, water and meadows. Great food, hospitalty and suites at the Lamm. At night listen to the witches lob thunderbolts from mountain to mountain!
