    Wines of the area

    Posted by Alice5 23 July 2007

La Clape wines from around Narbonne are a little-known but wonderful find. Buy from the roadside, or the local caves.

Our favourites are from Chateau Ricardelle, between Narbonne and Gruissan. We stayed there on our honeymoon, and been back to the area many times.

Rent an apartment from the owners - Homelidays has been very good for us, not a duff holiday.

    Ladda Resort, Bang Niang

Posted by AliD 11 March 2007

This resort and the accomodation infact were both badly hit by the tsunami. Henrik and Ladda have rebuilt their accomodation virtually from scratch again in order to offer a comfortable, friendly place to stay with the added bonus of a lovely swimming pool. The small rooms and large bungalows are all reasonably priced. There is free internet available. Henrik and Ladda make you very welcome including sharing late night drinking of Thai whisky!!

We spent more than two weeks in Sicily in April/May 2006 - not enough time for this amazing island. One of the highlights was staying in this small town - despite being so close to Palermo it had an island feel. Perfect place from which to visit Erice, Segesta & Scopello. The Cala Marina 3* hotel was excellent, in a perfect waterfront spot and one's wish was their command!

    Citadines Bastille Marais

Posted by eggpete 26 January 2007

Citadines Bastille Marais is an apart'hotel centrally located in the interesting Bastille neighborhood.

Its apartments are big and fully furnished, there's free high-speed internet in the hall and Place De Vosges in Le Marais is a five minute walk.

Prices are, well, remember that you're in Paris! But they're not too high compared to hotels, and you can save money cooking meals in the kitchen.

    Saracen's Head Inn

Posted by jeffco 26 January 2007

This is a lovely inn situated on the banks of the river Wye. I would recommend it for its beautiful setting, its relaxed atmosphere, excellent food and lovely accomodation. The superior rooms, newly decorated and luxurious, are particulary good for a romantic getaway.

The Wye valley is delightful, lots of nice walks and canoeing nearby. There is the oldest hand-operated ferry in England (I think) outside the inn to get you across the river.

    Villa Muranco

    Posted by Kath708907 2 January 2007

Unique villa off the beaten track, approx 30 minutes drive from Bodrum. We were so pleased to find this stylishly decorated secluded villa with cracking views and swimming pool.

The highlight of our stay was when the villa owners offered to come and cook us a delicious and authentic modern Italian meal - such a treat! An unforgettable holiday - we hope that others get the chance to experience this idyllic oasis, but not too many so we can still go back!

    Harpenden House Hotel

Posted by PedroFromBrazil 14 December 2006

Lovely countryside-looking hotel, close to the city centre of Harpenden, near Luton. So you get a peaceful location, surrounded by some nature, and still can walk to a couple of nice pubs and restaurants in the town - not the biggest party in the world but still quite nice considering you are in a somewhat remote place.

Staff are very friendly and attentive, and the food is great - both in the restaurant and room service.
Apparently it is a popular place for weddings and other festive lunches/dinners. I was there in a business trip and felt at home - a much better option than the budget hotels of these days for a price not so much higher.

    Fointanhas, Panjim

Posted by LaviniaDosRemedios 2 November 2006

This is the Goan Latin Quarter, tucked behind Pato Bridge. January sees an annual festival where the Portuguese Mansions throw open their doors to local artists and their work for a week-long celebration of music and culture.

Splash out and book yourself into the Panjim Inn where you will step back in time and style, and fulfill all your Rani and Raj dreams. The art work in the gallery will blow you away.

    Halse Lodge

Posted by bootycreord 6 October 2006

It's a backpackers' place stuck in a time warp. From the outside it's a throw back from the early twenties but inside its an up-to-date hostel catering for all tastes.

However, I've heard that it's going to be demolished, I hope this isn't true. Nossa is a wonderful little place. An almost idyllic place, kind of Ozzie Bedford Falls. Relax and enjoy.

An (allegedly) 5* hotel right next to the Arpad Hid HEV. It has a great spa downstairs, a big buffet restaurant and a lot of elderly guests.
But it is fantastic if you are going to the Sziget festival. Super near to the festival island (one stop on the HEV, 20 minutes walking or 5 minutes if you have a cycle or will pay for a taxi to use the nearby vehicles entrance). You can catch the HEV or a bus into town too. Service is very friendly and it is so nice to detox in the spa all day and then to dance all night.

We got a very good price by booking early on www.booking.com. The website does make it look a bit more tranquil than it is tho'. If you have a front facing room then be aware that not only the HEV but also a major road is between you and the river.

    The Georgian

    Posted by jodyq1 21 September 2006

A wonderful seafront hotel in beautiful Santa Monica, the Georgian is, on the outside, a powder blue art-deco classic, while on the inside the rooms are modern and stylish but with the old-world feel of the hotel preserved. Enjoy a drink at sunset at the hotelfront veranda bar and watch the world go by in style.
