Mykonos Nightlife

Posted by stebous 17 August 2009

Mykonos is the queen of entertainment. So, anyone who visits Mykonos should try at least once go to a really cool bar to dance till the first morning hours and drink some original cocktails.

I think that the bar El Pecado is an excellent choice. It is considered to be one of the hot spots of the island and a must-visit bar. We were sent there by a local when we asked him for a good place to drink nice liquor and dance like crazy!

We were very satisfied by what we saw. It has a medieval-style decoration, reminding of a church, with Argentinean and Spanish elements. There are also wall paintings representing Adam Eve. We stayed the first hours on the balcony, feeling the breeze of the Cycladic wind and looking the lights of the port. Then, when we felt ready for partying, we entered in the main clubbing area and danced mostly Latin music but also some popular mainstream songs.

“El Pecado” means “sin”, and you should know that it was not named like this at random. We left when the sun had already risen and I wish I had taken my sunglasses with me, because I definitely needed them when I got out of El Pecado…

I recommend to everyone visiting Mykonos and wants to feel a little –or, actually, a lot!– of its party spirit to go to El Pecado for an unforgettable, “sinful” night!

For the benefit of the readers of this forum I would like to recommend on this website: www.restaurants.mu (Mauritius Restaurants Guide).

It is a great restaurants and bars guide for Mauritius offering up-to-date information on restaurants, bars and clubs in Mauritius (of course it is FREE).

The website is a great tool to find a restaurant, place to eat, catering service, food shops, and to find big selection of discount coupons, special promotions, restaurants tips, so check it before your arrival to Mauritius.

Hope this helps. Enjoy :-)

Los Cunaos

Posted by Valdage 15 August 2009

This is a typical Spanish tapas bar and restaurant in a Spanish populated area of town. You receive a tapas with every drink and there is an extensive menu. There is limited seating outside for drinks or to dine.

The locals frequent this bar for lunch, dinner and to watch the live football matches. A very friendly atmosphere and interesting to experience.

Caffe degli Spiriti

'Trendy' bar on Bastione San Remy in the elevated Castello area of Cagliari.
Outdoor drinking/eating (which becomes a nightclub later in the night) with fantastic views over all of Cagliari.
We had cocktails which cost about £7 a head.

Bastione San Remy. You have to walk up 100 or so steps to get to this area.
However there are three free outdoor lifts up to the Castello area from Santa Croce and two lifts from Viale Regina Elena.

Bastia

Posted by happyholidays 6 August 2009

Bastia Vieux Port and Citadelle (Terra Nova) are very attractive places to wander. You get very good views from the Citadelle, particularly from the Bar de la Citadelle. There's a 'petit train' which takes you around (and up the hill to the Citadelle which is good when it's hot) for six Euros and runs every hour from near the ferry port. If you understand French the tour is good.

Le Padula, Algajola

Posted by happyholidays 6 August 2009

Beach bar and restaurant. It's the best place to eat around the village. There is the wide variety of stuff you'd expect in a beach bar; pizza, salads, sandwiches, etc but also much more sophisticated and imaginative dishes, including lovely desserts which were hard to come by in this neck of the woods. It's also the best place to sit and watch the sun go down.

Half way down Aregno Plage, short walk from Algajola Village (dark on the way back at night but OK)

Bar Oviso

Posted by saledan 5 August 2009

A cool, funky bar which will accept you like a friend, whether you are an aristocrat or an alcoholic (or maybe both!). One of the cheaper bars in Barcelona, it may look a little rough and intimidating from the outside, but inside is a small oasis of calm, where people sit around discussing the days events, catching up with the papers, or simply whiling away a few hours, not doing much at all.

The surrounding area around Placa George Orwell is a little on the 'ghetto' side but on the numerous occasions I have been there I have never felt threatened, or uneasy.

Serves good, cheap food as well.

Hotel Zorzis

Posted by Roblin1 1 August 2009

A gem of a boutique hotel in Perissa is on the opposite side of the island to Fira (the capital) and Oia (stunning!) which must be visited by bus - frequent, cheap and very scenic.

The owner Captain Spiros (yes really!) listens to his guests and makes improvements to his hotel accordingly. At around €42 per room per night it is terrific value. Breakfast is light, but more than sufficient with fresh Greek produce. There are lovely views at the back from an attractive garden with pool.

Tavernas in Perissa are many, good and cheap. Fira and Dorian's Pub over the road has a welcoming leafy garden and cheap cocktails and beer.

Flights are with Easyjet from Gatwick.

On the main street into town and 5 mins from the beach.

BarMC

Its a small cocktail bar attached to the Abode Hotel, right in the centre of town. In my opinion, it beats off any competition regarding quality of cocktail in the city centre and merchant city. There are other bars with better atmosphere perhaps, but due to it never being too busy, the bartenders can spend more time with each customer to find out exactly what they want.

Praia da Luz

Posted by JourneyingJen 19 July 2009

This bar/restaurant has a fantastic spot on the surf pounded beach of the same name, a short bus ride to the west of Porto city. With a large decked area strewn with sofas, loungers and tables looking out over the Atlantic it’s a really relaxing place for a sundowner. This plus the chilled house background music and churning sea dotted with relentless surfers makes for a hybrid Ibizan/Cornish vibe.

Take the No.500 bus towards Matosinhos which starts outside Porto train station and follows a scenic route along the shore. Get off just after the castle.

Great bar with a small balcony with views of the Old Port and Notre Dame. Go between 6 and 9. Amazing nibbles are served with every drink: olives, sardines, chicken wings, squid...

A great view of Tokyo

Posted by nagoyabijin 17 July 2009

Shiodome City Centre is a 42 storey building with great choices of bars and restaurants on the top two floors. The view is as good as, or even better than, Park Hyatt.

I've been to Fishbank for drinks and Izakaya En for dinner and both of them were very reasonably priced and food was very good. It's very close to Ginza and Tsukiji but the nearest station is "Shiodome" on Oedo line.

Privado is the lounge bar of El Ayoun, a well known stylish restaurant situated in San Rafael.

El Privado is a unique place on the island, with superior service and some of the drinks considered to be the best on the island.

Of course the music makes you dance but always being elegant and sexy.

Ushuaia is a new stylish place in Playa D'en Bossa.

During the day it's a restaurant and beach lounge with VIP beds and rustic thatched umbrellas.
In the night it becomes a playground for beach parties with well known DJs as Tania Vulcano, Luciano and David Morales.

I like it because of its interior design and good parties. I suggest to everyone to go and have a boogie!

The Loft

Posted by lanners 13 July 2009

The Loft is a bar with very friendly staff and local and imported drinks. You can catch all sporting events on several TVs and play pool and make use of free Wi-Fi. Richard and daughter Jodie make for great staff and always made us welcome. Their 'shots' menu is pretty impressive too.

Paseo de Mediterraneo opposite the Cruz Rojo (red cross ambulance station) and in front of the post office on Mojacar Playa. The bar is on first floor with views overlooking the sea with palm trees.

La Higuera tapas bar

Posted by SteveMcCann 13 July 2009

This is a great little tapas bar/restaurant within a cool walled garden perched at the top of the hill in the Albaicin in Granada. It is quite difficult to find, tucked away in a little side street, but is well worth it if you can find it.

Fantastic tapas free with every drink and eating off the menu looked pretty good as well.
