Set in a Victorian warehouse, this is a fantastic boozer. Good crowd, good service, good acoustics and great live acts on at the weekend. Slightly off the beaten track but well worth jumping on the Northern line for!
Located on the shores of a lake in Killaloe just outside the city. Fab place - beautiful decor with picture windows. Great steaks, a huge menu and wine list and the kids loved the pizza from a real fire oven.

This is a great hostel that I stayed in in Chamonix. Super cheap beds, really friendly staff and a buzzing bar - awesome!
Four-nights-a-week topical comedy show. Very close to the bone and possibly libellous humour! The Canal Cafe Theatre is in a great location above the Bridge House pub in Little Venice, which is a gorgeous, off the tourist rat-run part of London.

I loved Nha Trang.
I emerged at night like the luscious amoral vampire I become in the tropics (something about crossing the equator - I follow the locals - do not go out in the heat of the day.)
Start at the Sailing Club and end up at the Why Not Bar (Why not?). 100 bars along the way but the real meeting places are the Sailing Club and Why Not Bar.
Every dollar I got ripped off, I loved, would've paid more to all the thieves and scammers if they would just play pool or backgammon with me! (Warning: all gambling is illegal in Vietnam.)
My body is at home in Australia but I accidently left my heart, soul and mind behind in Vietnam.

Lounge 69 is a nightclub appreciated by those who like to listen a good music and see beautiful and young people.
When I went there, they played electronic music. I'd recommend you ask for one of their good drinks and to wear comfortable sandals and clothes, because you will probably dance all night!

Their great food and wine - given two stars by Wine and Dine - plus friendly staff have already been recommended on this site but they have moved to an even more luxurious location - a beautiful shop house in the historic Kampong Glam district. Also they have a new chef, Patrick Tan and his menus are divine.
26 Kandahar Street (Kampong Glam) across from the Malay Heritage Village off Northbridge Road (they moved there from Waterloo street).
The name says it all. On Fridays and Saturdays some good live music bands can be found here too, playing a mixture of salsa, funk, jazz and soul covers. Fantastic atmosphere, not too crowded and always friendly.
Bogenbai Batyr St., corner Dostyk St., Almaty, Kazakhstan - easily spotted by the murals on the outside, and well known by all taxi drivers as the place seems to be a bit of an Almaty institution!
Salsa and other live music Friday–Sunday
Thursdays - free entrance and salsa classes at 9pm
A daggy old longstanding hotel (robbed by bushrangers in the 19th century!), Milano's has gone through a renovation and rejuvenation
and today it has decent dining facilities (new bistro) and new function areas (for receptions or parties). The bay and city views from the upstairs function area is amazing.
In addition, Milano's is gaining a reputation as a great place for live music featuring local acts Dining and entertainment deals make this a great night out.

00 is a very famous bar, nightclub and restaurant in Rio.
I liked to go there because I ate great food and then danced with my friends all night! There are so many beautiful people there! Especially the girls.

This restaurant in Santo António das Areias near Marvão is well worth a visit if you are going to this area. You can eat outside in the courtyard or in the trendy modern interior.
We had a fabulous meal and the owners were so friendly, they were celebrating a birthday and offered the guests a glass of champagne. We will definitely return. Don't miss the prawns in beer sauce or the pork with plum sauce. Great with a bottle of Chamine Vinho Tinto (red wine).
O Poejo restaurant in Santo António das Areias near Marvão.
We had a fabulous meal there and met the owners who were so friendly. Great food, great ambience, well worth a visit. Try the pork with plumbs, delicious.

A relatively new addition to the Krakow Restaurant scene and a delight to find good value delicious food in a pleasant airy dining room with an adjoining characterful bar and garden. Great friendly service.
Kazimerz, just off the main square as you head back to central Krakow underneath the Spartz hotel
That's a cool bar and nightclub at Copacabana.
I loved Clandestino because I danced all night! And yes, I also drank a lot!

Located in inner Brisbane, the Norman Hotel is branded as Brisbane's WORST vegetarian eating spot. So what do you get? Very large pieces of meat (cooked as you want) ...with not much else.
A very trendy spot (very busy), with a reasonable menu ...if you like meat! Good service and good food, even better if it once moo'd!

Le Pilotis is a bar/restaurant on the Corniche with wonderful views of the sea. Le Corniche is a beach promenade 5km west of Casablanca.
Le Pilotis was a complete contrast to what we saw earlier in the day in the medina of Casablanca and would not look out of place in Marbella. It is where the 'beautiful people' of Casablanca come yet to our UK pockets was not that expensive. It's fascinating to watch these people and there's wine and mediterranean food as well as some good music.
Plenty of seafood restaurants out here in the Corniche but one place we'd recommend is Le Pilotis.
Boulevard de la Corniche, Casablanca
[5km west of the town]. Grab a red petit taxi which will set you back about 50 dirhams (c. £3.50).

OK... the famous 1942 movie Casablanca wasn't filmed in Morocco but on a Hollywood set.
However this bar/restaurant was based on the original set designs and really makes you believe you are sitting where Bogart ran his 'gin joint'.

And yes... the pianist does play 'As Times Goes By'!

Just outside medina walls - easiest way to get to Rick's is to walk the Boulevard des Almohades between the port and the medina walls.
For a totally different view of Marrakech not too far from the medina walls - this is a cafe serving coffee, tea, soft drinks and light snacks. As with most places within Marrakech this place does not serve alcohol.
The Hivernage is a neighbourhood of nice villas and five-star hotels so Café Extrablatt is an interesting contrast to the relative poverty of the medina. Watch as the customers pull up in their 4x4s dressed in their western fashions. Still not expensive from a western point of view but interesting to people-watch.
in the district of Hivernage at corner of Avenue Echouhada & Avenue El Qadissia. Not too far from Sofitel hotel just outside medina walls.
This is a great place for either a few drinks in the bars downstairs (The Star bars) or an amazing dinner in the Italian-influenced restaurant upstairs (The Dove). I've done both (the bars several times!) and I love it there! Always have a good time. Really close to Victoria Park so it's the perfect place for a cheeky cider during a day in the sun. Get involved!

The Emporium hotel (opened Jun07) is to be highly recommended. Super service with fantastic luxurious rooms makes it a great place to stay. The hotel is located in the Emporium Food and fashion precinct in the 'Valley.
Cheap it is not, but it's worth the stay. I also have to mention that the entrance to the hotel is... amazing!
