Rheinhotel Dreesen

Posted by PhilSen 14 August 2010

When the sun comes out, and it doesn't often in these parts, the biergarten at the historic Rheinhotel is the place to go. With a dramatic view over the castles dotting Siebengebirge hills, a daily barbecue and a trampoline for the kinder, it's just the ticket to kick back and quaff a tranquil glass of Weissbier. Just forget the fact that this is where Chamberlain met Hitler to arrange the Munich conference.

The Three Pigeons Inn

Posted by Lekeg 14 July 2010

This pub has real ale, occasionally stocks local cider, serves good food and has a stunning beer garden and terrace that overlooks the whole of the fabulous Vale of Clwyd. On a summer's day the view is simply fantastic and is a great vista for supping drinks long into the evening. There is also a small campsite owned by the pub about 50 yards away so you can stumble to your tent too.

The Waterpoet

Posted by Spes 12 July 2010

The Waterpoet has one of the best beer gardens in London. The garden is open all year round (even in the snow!) as it is sheltered between an old crumbling building and two modern style buildings. It serves delicious and very affordable food, hosts various quiz nights, it has pool tables and various TVs scattered all around the venue for those who love football, cricket, tennis or rugby. They also have a great choice of beer and wines. It has great atmosphere each time and super friendly helpful staff.

It is located near Liverpool Street station at 9-11 Folgate Street Spitalfields, London E1 6BX

The White House

Posted by jagreenwood 12 July 2010

In terms of best beer gardens in the UK, my recommendation would be the White House, near to Clissold park in London.
It's run by a Turkish owner and the rear garden really feels like being on holiday in Turkey - there's bean bags everywhere, low tables, shisha pipes to smoke and so on. They do table service in their busier times which is great when the football's on. Two big screens to watch on out there also. The food is excellent in a simple-but-great Turkish way. Oh - and there's a pub rabbit! Better than a pub dog ...

Great food and beer garden is right on the Severn Estuary Coast - there is even an island on which you can get trapped at high tide!

The Prince of Wales pub

Posted by Stiener 12 July 2010

This is a brilliant pub that attracts some very interesting people from all walks of life; dog and child friendly too. The beer garden is pretty expansive with a covered area of sofas and TV and bigger marquee-type things that are rolled out across the whole garden in the winter and also provide shelter for the various music and entertainment events. There is also a little outdoor bar, lots of lovely flowers and a fantastic atmosphere. They serve a range of real ales and guest beers at pretty reasonable prices; the menu is excellent and Saturday is hog-roast day!

The Prince of Wales

Posted by mediamule 12 July 2010

The Prince of Wales is a fantastic pub with a sublime beer garden ... in BIRMINGHAM. Yes, I know, Birmigham. I too was shocked. However, after endless summers spent trying to find a decent beer garden round my neck of the woods in East London, I stumbled upon this little gem one evening when I was in Birmingham for work. The beer is great (eight casque ales no less) but the garden tops off the Victorian splendour of the bar, parlour et. al.

Just go see it for yourself - All I'm going to say is shack, sunset and stage. the rest, as they say, is up to you dear reader ...

The Square and Compass

Posted by SuzzieJ 12 July 2010

Best beer garden in the UK. Unique pub situated in a peaceful village on the Isle of Purbeck with breathtaking views of the coastline. Take a short or long walk along the coastal footpath then grab a cider or local ale with a warm, homemade pasty, sit on the stone furniture to watch the sun go down over the south coast - tranquility.

The Thomas Lord pub

Posted by hammerthyme 12 July 2010

The Thomas Lord might just be the perfect pub for the summer. The food's great and the staff are lovely, but the beer garden is the best bit. A kitchen garden which supplies the restaurant. An outdoor pizza oven. They even have their own chickens and quails running about. Perfect for families and hardened drinkers alike. The location means that a dedicated driver is a must. Unless you stay in a yurt at one of the nearby trout lakes.

The Green Man

Posted by Beckyanne 12 July 2010

I suppose when I think of a great beer garden, I would ordinarily have placed a lot of importance on well tended and over-filled hanging baskets, sturdy seating and adequate protection from the elements. But then I happened upon The Green Man, a country pub in the small village of Great Offley, just outside Hitchin, in Hertfordshire. What it lacks in topiary, it makes up for with a sweeping field, overlooking the green hills of neighbouring Bedfordshire. Great big benches have generous parasols, and patrons can while away the hours gazing at two very lovely and curious horses (one with dreadlocked forelocks) who munch their way around the adjoining field. There is a marvellous sense of peaceful isolation in the Green Man's beer garden, with its great expanse of open space. I much prefer it to a tarted up corner of the carpark, as many outside areas are. Well worth a visit.

Main Street, Great Offley, Hitchin, Hertfordshire SG5 3AR. About an hour's drive from central London.

The writer Schiller is a local celebrity and this restaurant and beer garden commemorates him in an attractive way by serving good quality food and drink at reasonable prices.

The tables outside are crowded from about seven o'clock on, but there seems always to be room, and the atmosphere is welcoming and cheerful.

Schillerplatz, Loschwitz; about 15 mins out of the city centre, on Tram 6 or 12 from Postplatz (Dresden), or bus 85.

Rock Inn

Posted by HoppingHippy 27 June 2007

A lovely inn/hotel nestled in the above hamlet, a few hundred yards from the edge of Dartmoor proper. The food is exquisite, service friendly and fantastic, with a beautifully tranquil beer garden to soothe those aching legs after a hike on the moor.

I got up early one morning in April and walked through the woods below the hotel which were stunning in the light of early dawn. And sitting atop Hay Tor at 7am is simply breathtaking.

The Pub

Posted by toonale 20 June 2007

This is the first pub to open its doors in Chiang Mai and was voted one of the best bars in the world. It is an olde worlde English pub in the true tradition. Has a great selection of food and drinks including roast dinners on Sundays.

It recently had a makeover and extended the bar and the restaurant but has kept its old charm. There is also an outside area where you can sit and enjoy the tranquility of a tropical garden. And now has new bungalows added for those wishing to linger a while. A must to visit when in Chiang Mai.

Syke Farm campsite

Posted by ECVitoria 25 April 2007

It is in the perfect spot for taking on the Buttermere Circuit or the gentler option of walking around the lake. It’s a small and friendly site with great views and is away from the road so nice and quiet, bar the lambs whose barring might wake you up early doors. Get your revenge on them by tucking into the delicious spring lamb, the best thing on the menu at the Bridge Inn just two minutes from the site. It’s a hikers' pub with a garden and good selection of ales.

At last a decent pub in Vilnius!! Great food and atmosphere. Not your typical dark walled Irish pub, pleasant pastel shades and a proper beer garden.

The Lab

A small bar just tucked away off Buchanan Street, behind Princes Square. Great beer, brilliant service and laid back tone. Do a mean cocktail if you ask nicely. Also - a beer garden in the city centre. What more could you need for Glasgow's tropical climate (unbrellas and heaters too).
