A very bohemian restaurant on ‘arty’ Heaton Road – extremely popular retreat with a loyal following, offering a variety of tasty and unusual dishes. Booking in advance essential. (Also doubles up as a sort of community activity centre, offering meditation classes and a book club!)

A Bohemian-style cafe overlooking Swansea marina - Jazz and Floyd drifting through the sails and masts and out over the bay... Excellent selection of coffees. Also, poetry nights and live music.

Le Reconfort is a lovely little restaurant in the Marais district. Food is absolutely delicious and the waiters (who I suspect are also the owners) are really great. The menu is in an old French novel which really adds to its bohemian vibe!

It is one of the "cerros", or hills of Valparaiso. Accessible on foot or by funicular, it has its own spirit.

Out of the seven cerros, it is the more artistic; home of many painters, writers and dreamers.

No specific place to recommend, a simple stroll through the Cerro Conception will remind you of Montmartre, Soho, and many other places with not only staggering beauty, but also a mind of its own.
