A long-established summer trend. Buy a pair of handcrafted, ancient Greek-inspired sandals and dare to impress. You can't go wrong by visiting Melissinos's new shop (by far the most popular sandal maker) in Psiri.

The Ouzo brand that Greeks prefer but nearly impossible to find abroad.
Any supermarket, off-license.
There's some wonderful little voodoo shops as you might expect, but the best ones can be found away from the main tourist drag. There's a teriffic one on St. Claude Avenue but I can't remember its name.
Voodoo potions and lotions make great gifts and they have a earnest kitsch asthetic that I love.
Classic interior design store on Strandvagen, Sweden's elegant waterfront boulevard. Founded in 1924 by Estrid Ericson, an art teacher and pewter designer (Svenskt Tenn means Swedish pewter), it's home to an amazingly eclectic mix of classic furniture, lamps and porcelain.
Austere modernism clashes with Swedish bourgeois cosiness, often to startling effect.
Ericson collaborated for many years with Austrian designer Joseph Frank. His exuberant and sumptuous textiles are the highlight.
Bring home a Frank cushion, an Ericson pewter jug or a quirky candleholder.
In November 2005 a Svenskt Tenn shop opened in Liberty's in London - but don't miss the original.

They sell organic coffee from all over Indonesia that they age for 8+ years and carefully slow roast. It's a completely unorthodox approach that results in an extremely subtle, mellow coffee.
It's been in existence since the 1930's and the proprietor is a wonderful, enthusiastic man who is very happy to show you the process that he uses.
