    PURL cocktail bar

Posted by Brightonbabe 12 January 2012

PURL - by definition “malt liquor, medicated or spiced; formerly, ale or beer in which wormwood or other bitter herbs had been infused, and which was regarded as tonic; at present, hot beer mixed with gin, sugar, and spices”.
Want some fun in London, then try this. Reminiscent of a Victorian Gin Palace with a retro twist, PURL, with its beams, piano bar and leather chairs, is made up of intimate alcoves underneath a road in Marylebone.
A list of cocktails thought up in the ‘lab’ at the rear, is influenced by ‘molecular mixology’. Don’t be too surprised to see a little chemistry! Liquid nitrogen, smoke and fire mixed with more traditional spirits - even a touch of caviar!
This is a truly exciting place to be. Enjoy!

    Ozone bar

    Posted by Sarahj91 23 September 2011

The views are amazing. It's on the 118th floor of the Ritz Carlton and although the prices for a glass of wine are London prices, you can nurse a glass all evening and enjoy spectacular views of Victoria Harbour as the sun goes down.

    Dishoom Chowpatty Beach Bar

Posted by LucyRM 19 June 2011

It's a pop-up Bombay beach bar located right in front of the Hayward Gallery - and the huge cuddly toy fox! - so if you are emotionally exhausted after Tracey Emin's exhibition, you can gather your strength with an exotic cocktail, some naan bread rolls stuffed with tasty things, and a loud blast of Bollywood and Bangra tunes, all right by the Thames. A fun venue.

Trúnó is a friendly, laid-back café with tiny library of queer literature, easy listening background music, and lilac walls. Apparently the word ‘trúnó’ translates as ‘when you sit down and have a heart to heart with somebody and tell your deepest secrets….’ (according to the friendly Norwegian waitress).
The fabulous nightclub, Barbara, is next door, you can't miss it with its bright pink walls and rainbow flags everywhere. Start the evening with a cocktail at Trúnó then party late into the next morning with Barbara.

    Paradise Cottage

    Posted by stell2010 18 August 2010

This for me is the best place to sit back and relax, lie in a hammock drinking coconut shakes while looking out at the ocean. Paradise, is set in a idyllic location with a laid back atmosphere, welcoming and friendly staff, great food and cocktails.

Fresh and original cocktails served high above the rooftops of the European quartier of Istanbul. And of course, as its name suggests, the views are stunning.

    Pravda, NY

    Posted by lkr86 22 September 2009

Cocktail bar in Lower East Side. AMAZING cocktails, including ones made with house-infused vodkas in various flavours. Has a nice zinc top bar for that classic NY cocktail bar experience. The bartender was really friendly, and we even got some lovely aperitifs on the house to go with our drinks.

Make sure you don't miss it though - we initially thought it was shut, as there is just a small sign and you have to go downstairs to get to it! Incidentally we also ate at one of it's sister restaurants, Schillers, which was also lovely.

Officially dubbed a "Cocktail and Genever experience". I recommend it because it is a great addition to an Amsterdam visit as it gives an interesting look in to the world of Genever and modern cocktail shaking.

Genever is one of Hollands most traditional products and Bols is the oldest. The experience includes: History, tasting experiment, video of yourself flaring and a cocktail of choice.

Monday through Sunday 12pm – 6pm (closed Tuesdays).

The entrance fee is € 11,50 per person. Including a cocktail in the Mirror bar

    Tapas and cocktails

    Posted by mia123 9 December 2008

We went to El Torero Loco for a quick after work drink - we ended up staying there all night! It really is a tapas place with a difference - stylish with a glamorous sofa area at the back. Great happy hour 5-7pm, with amazing cocktails. The tapas were divine - try the chorizo stew and gambas.

    Soupanatural

Posted by snabeldrengen 28 May 2008

Don't panic, it's organic! This place offers 100% organic soups, smoothies and cocktails. The place is the first in Denmark to sell to-go drinks, and I was really pleased to be able to buy a couple of drinks, and bring them with me, so I could enjoy them in the sunshine of Nørrebro.

Not really a cocktail bar, but a cocktail lounge in a lovely Italian restaurant. Makes the only proper vodka martini I've ever tasted in Ireland. Also has the best pasta.

A friendly neighbourhood bar in the relaxed Carouge area. Run by a young team, nicely decorated, with an outdoor patio of comfy sofas shielded by a wall of willows. Nice wine list, tho' everyone seemed to be drinking rose. Some good bar snacks (assiettes of charcuterie/ cheese and chunks of good bread).
