Three hours by land from Saigon (or less than two hours by ferry and bus). Quiet and cool beach area with great seafood. Cute cabanas in Palace Hotel resort with swimming pool. Palace Hotel is 100 years old, built by the French and used in modern times as a reception place for French embassy.
La Villa is a converted colonial house on Battambang riverfront converted lovingly by its owners, a French-Vietnamese couple, into a gorgeous boutique guesthouse and restaurant.
Free-standing bath tubs in the rooms, art deco fans and a really beautifully-done restaurant and bar area make this well worth the 50 USD a night or so rate.
Just be sure to arrive here by boat from Siem Reap (you'll feel you've earned a bit of luxury!) and take advantage of the Smokin' Pot cookery school nearby, one of the highlights of our Cambodia trip.

Jehangir Kothari is a place dedicated to the public, built by Mr. Jehangir.
It is a beautiful example of colonial architecture and is built with stones favoured by the British in pre-partitioned India.
Jehangir Kothari Parade is located on the opposite side of The Point (Pak Towers). Ask any taxi or rickshaw to take you there. It's a popular place in Karachi so most people should know it.
The 1040 metres high Bokor Mountain was once a playground of the rich and famous during the early 1900’s. However, it is now a hauntingly derelict ghost town. There is so much to see on this former French hill station, such as an old abandoned Catholic church, a derelict French colonial style hotel and casino, a holiday villa, a royal residence and a Buddhist monastery that is built on the verge of the mountain. Also wild elephants and other jungle animals are occasionally seen if you’re lucky.
The view over the Cambodian and Vietnamese coast and islands from the top (1081 metres above sea level) is spectacular. At certain times of the year the mountain gets enveloped by a quick moving thick fog which makes for one of the most eerie yet beautiful sights I’ve ever experienced. It is also possible to stay at a National Park guesthouse on Bokor.
Hire a taxi to take you to the summit; the journey should take around two hours and costs about $20. I would advise against riding a motorbike there unless you are an experienced rider on a dirt bike. I have heard of many near death experiences of foreigners trying to do the journey themselves.
Visited by moto or 4WD vehicle (rates vary so haggle) and it is a two hour trip up a bumpy track.
There are still some very beautiful parts to PP for example, Street 240, with its galleries, lovely restaurants and tree lined colonial feel.

These buildings were generally built by British, but rich Hindus and Muslims also built some splendid structures. Most of these can be found in the old areas of Karachi. They include Kharadar, Mithadar, Saddar, Burns Road and Tower areas. I recommend them because they are part of city's landscape. The good examples are KMC Head Office and Mohatta Palace.
KMC Head Office is itself an address. Other important British-era structures are nearby. Ask your taxi or rickshaw driver to take you there. And don't miss the Mohatta Palace, which is now a museum.
