I got a few days off from work and decided to try and find something in Kerry. I found Kenmare Rentals - they own the properties and were great to deal with, the website was good (we booked online) and very easy. We got confirmation straight away.
We stayed in Barr Cill Athat, about two miles from Kenmare, which has views of Kenmare Bay and the mountains. We really enjoyed our stay - we only had one problem with our broadband and we got it fixed within an hour. They have a good selection of properties, and they also own a popular place for eating and drinking (O'Donnabhains). We will be definitely be back.
Very helpful, responsive and efficient company offering self-catering accommodation in the Lake District. We enjoyed our stay at High Spy in Keswick, a nice flat ideally located for the town and surrounding attractions.
David and Jo were very friendly and kind to us when we were trying to arrange our recent stay in Keswick. Thanks to them, we had a great time! They responded very quickly to our enquires and the cottages was very beautiful.
Gardenstown is a gem of a village with pretty painted cottages surrounded by sandstone cliffs and the north sea. Mitchell's Cottage is on main street just a one-minute walk from the atmospheric local pub Garden Arms. The cottage has just been renovated with a superb dining kitchen, working fire in the sitting room for those cosy nights in and a big shower bath to soak in at the end of the day. If you're exploring Scotland don't miss Gardenstown and Mitchell's Cottage.
For an authentic rural Swedish getaway drive one hour east of Gothenburg and stay at this charming forest cottage with views over the local lake. Use this as a base to explore the very pleasant local area including the local town of Ulricehamn on the shores of Asunden lake. The cottage is well equipped with facilities but can still be the perfect getaway. We particularly enjoyed looking for chantarelle mushrooms in the surrounding forest.
"A cute 3 bedroom holiday rental cottage in a quiet hamlet just half an hour from Charles Bridge. Sleeps 4-6. From £250 per week."
We stayed for the whole month of August last year (2007). Fantastic time with our two young daughters (7 and 5). Every day doing different things. If it was hot we borrowed canoes and went for paddle on the river, or just hung out in the cottage's pool. On cooler days we went exploring. We had a car with us, but the train stop is just two minutes' walk away so we often went up to Prague for the day or to visit local castles. Beautiful area, very friendly locals in the pub (and cheap food!), and we managed to see a lot of the country. The place was perfect.
But, not recommended for disabled or elderly. There's a sofa bed in the bedroom downstairs, but to reach the two bedrooms upstairs you need to go up fairly steep wooden steps. No problem for agile people like us (!) and the girls didn't have a single fall during our whole stay, but worth bearing in mind. Also, although the cottage has a bathroom inside, the loo is just outside the front door. No problem in the spring or summer, but I wonder what it would be like in the depths of winter! Although it is under the porch.
All in all, a fantastic place, relaxing, in the countryside yet a short (fun!) train ride into the centre of Prague. Recommended!
Oh! Forgot to mention the bikes! Probably the highlight of our stay. We headed off on rides at least three times a week, sometimes taking the bikes on the trains with us. From the cottage itself there are plenty of options- along the river Sazava, upstream or downstream, into the local town, or up into the forests. Great fun!
And the lovely old people in the next door cottage joined us a couple of times for a barbecue in the evenings. We didn't understand very much, but a nice time was had.
Unique qualities: great views, pool, lots of attention to detail (tourist leaflets, dozens of hiking and cycling maps, board games for children, a collection of DVDs etc).
Very comfortable accommodation with nice clean bedding and firm beds. Small but well-equipped kitchen.
Very quiet surroundings - we had deer coming up to the fence at the back of the garden some evenings! And hares and foxes.
Unpredictable weather - ranging from very hot and dry to pretty cool and showery. But always plenty of things to do and places to visit.
Address: Zlenice, near Cercany
Directions: 30mins by car from centre of Prague. M/way in the direction of Brno. Turn off at junction 21. Follow signs. Very easy to find. By train, 1 hour from Prague main station to Cercany. Then change to a tiny train for a couple of stops. Trains run till late.

Looking to stay at an Argentine home? well, maybe not inside their home, but how about in their guesthouse?
Few vacation rentals in Buenos Aires offer what this beautiful and comfortable cottage does. Completely renovated with air conditioning which you will need on summer days, an outside BBQ grill for preparing the perfect Argentinean barbecue, a small swimming pool and paths that lead to tea gardens. Located in an area called Adrogue, in the south suburbs of the city of Buenos Aires.
Spotlessly clean, very well catered.
Nice little cottage, everything easy, lots to see and do roundabout. Whitehaven is a hidden gem.
Delightful place to stay, great location for exploring the north lakes away from the crowds.

We arrived late, wind blowing and rain pouring and the cottage was so welcoming and cosy. Absolutely amazing scenery and walks. Devil's Bridge was amazing even though it was a bit of a cardiac hill! Weather was appalling which made the cottage even more cosy and welcoming. They say there is no place like home - we could quite easily make this ours.
Self-catering Cotswold cottage. Beautifully renovated old silk-workers cottage in the charming Cotswold village of Blockley. Great for walking and wonderful pubs for meals. Amazing views from the cottage and very peaceful. Highly recommended.
This is the most gorgeous romantic bolthole. It has stunning views, is on Gold Hill which was used in the famous Hovis advert and is a real tardis! It has 4 bedrooms for 6 people which all come with White Company bedlinen and smart little bottles of White Company shampoo, etc. The top bedroom is a cool space - really inviting low built-in bed, flat screen TV, etc and ensuite shower. They even provide choccies in a sort of swirly marble run! Downstairs there is a separate music room with baby grand piano, wet room and log burning stove. The basket of yummy goodies was very useful.
Just the place for a lazy getaway with a special person!

You have to make an effort to get to mythical Bardsey, dangling off the tip of Wales's Lleyn Peninsula. It's so remote there are no full-time residents, just a summer-time community of farmers and holiday makers. Visitors stay like hermits in long-abandoned cottages with no running water or electricity, and you have to stand in the sea to pick up a mobile signal.
But you also get rare birdlife, fresh lobsters delivered by local fishermen and the kind of deep, utter peace you're hard pressed to get anywhere else in the UK.
Bardsey is about two miles off the tip of the Lleyn Peninsula in north Wales.
This rural hideaway, in the setting of the evocative novel 'Birds without Wings', is within easy reach of the hedonistic hot spots of Fethiye and Olu Deniz, yet could be a million miles away. We had a magical stay in this tranquil haven, only occasionally interrupted by the owners' donkey, Mabel. The first night's dinner, served on our private terrace, was included in the rent (now around £325 a week) but Bea, who has established some reputation as a talented chef, will provide further meals on request. John is an expert on local mountain trails, and this is an ideal spot for keen walkers. Here we savoured the atmosphere of Turkey as it used to be.

Last year me, mum, dad and my brother Aidan went on holiday to Jura. We stayed in a cottage beside the sea. There is a beach and a little park just along the road. Sometimes it rained but mostly it was a sunny day. One day we went down to the beach and found a crab crawling around the rock pool. When we went back to the beach one day we saw a wild otter.

My wife and I have stayed at Elizabeth's Garden Cottage and found it quite delightful. The yard is beautiful and full of flowers. The cottage is comfortable, reasonable and well equipped. Kenmare is charming and nearby.

Jake's resort is often featured in round-ups of the best the island has to offer - and for a reason. Book into one of the theatrically-designed seafront cottages, where you can stargaze from the flat roof, shower alfresco or throw open the doors to watch the sea lap
against the cliffs from the comfort of your bed. No wonder it's popular with honeymooners.

Treasure Beach is around 15 miles from Black River.
This is a charming, newly-renovated cottage on a small organic vegetable farm in Wales. Its clever design means that it uses a tiny amount of green electricity to maintain a comfortable temperature day and night. The views of Cardigan Bay and the Snowdonia mountains are superb and the delights of the Lleyn Peninsula are on the doorstep.
If you are looking for a place to get away from it all then Sweden is the place to go. This is where I grew up and it's my getaway from a busy London. Rent a cottage by the lake and enjoy the clean air, quietness and crystal clear lakes. Go fishing in the sunset or pick blueberries in the forest. You will come back feeling like a new person.
