Excellent tour for sewing fans. I saw several fabric stores, couture remnants, a button store to die for and a vast haberdashery shop, all by metro.
Nice friendly guide.
Stepping into Debbie Bryan's studio and shop you get a true sense of the comfort and joy to be found in owning an original piece of British Designers work.
Beautifully displayed, innovative pieces capture your imagination and you're soon sure to be charmed by their individuality and affordable prices. With lots of events and workshop evenings on offer this studio/shop is a fantastic place to be inspired and creative.

Artery Gallery is a contemporary gallery which sells jewellery, paintings, ceramics, sculptures, glassware, clocks, mirrors and photo frames. It's a really nice gallery - all the work is really fresh and unique. Loads of the artwork for sale in here is very new, never seen before art. They have lots of different styles of paintings - seascapes, landscapes, figurative, abstract - and it's all original. They don't sell prints, which is great, because you know you are guaranteed to get something original here.
It doesn't have that stuffy 'have to whisper' feels about it, nor does it have that intimidating oh-so-trendy 'too cool for school' feel about it! It's a totally different approach to a gallery.
The owner and staff are really friendly and helpful, and know so much about the art on sale here. It's obvious they know all their artists really well. They are really enthusiastic, and don't put pressure on you to buy.
There is such a huge selection of goods here, it would be great if you are re-decorating and need new artwork, or if you are looking for a wedding gift, or even just a wee treat for yourself. They ship all over the world, so if you see something you like while you are on holiday - you can still get it!
I stay quite close by, so I always go here if I'm looking for a gift for someone. It's great because they have such a wide price range, so there is always something suitable. I'd really recommend it if you're ever in St Andrews.

I’m a person who loves to bring souvenires for my parents when I go out of town. This time I went to Rio de Janeiro and found a really cute place called Brasil & Cia. I had a pretty good time there, picking some beautiful stuff. It’s a great store, with plenty of cute stuff.
Rua Maria Quitéria, 27 - Ipanema
A local craft/Brazilian art store in the heart of Ipanema, very close to the beach, in Rio de Janeiro. Everybody knows how rich in art and culture Brazil is, the weird thing is that it's very difficult to find a decent store, with no-cheesy stuff to buy for nice prices.
Brazil & Cia products are among the largest crafts and popular art centres in Brazil. They have Brazilian popular art objects that reflect important aspects of the local culture. The products are exquisite, alive. Makes you want to buy it all, for your home and as souvenirs for relatives and friends.

It is a cafe, cultural centre, and shop. The cafe has tables outside overlooking the Plaza San Fransisco which is very beautiful. The shop sells indigenous art ranging from clothing to paintings and jewellery.

Reuse your water bottles- there's a wee shop just past the sunrise cafe that sells boiled and filtered water that is perfectly drinkable if you've been in the country a few weeks.
They also sell local Tibetan-made handicraft, like books of recycled paper and so on.
near sunrise cafe, down some steps.
A couple called Ann and Ken will come and pick you up from your guesthouse in the morning and take you to their house where they will teach you various batik techniques. While Ann is overseeing your creations, Ken makes a wonderful Thai lunch. You don't need a big group to go, in fact it is much better with just a couple of close friends. It can be as simple as you like because you pick the designs yourself, either your own or a stencil so no matter how unartistic you think you are, you can make some amazing things. In the morning you do a practice on a square piece of cloth and in the afternoon you can choose a top or a cushion cover amongst other things to try out a more complicated design and techniques.
It is a bargain and a lovely way to spend a day. Ann and Ken are lovely people and speak good English.

Get on the little passenger ferry across False Creek to visit Granville Island. Former industrial buidlings have been converted into galleries, shops, craft workshops and restaurants. There is also a fantastic farmer's market and a brewery.

St Paul de Vence is a medieval hilltop town, little changed, which is a haven for real art and local crafts.
It has a great feel and there is a brilliant old-fashioned bar at the entrance to the town surrounded by a boules rink.
St Paul de Vence is about 10km (35 mins) away from Nice - you can hire a motorbike and scoot your way west towards Antibe and Cannes - although you turn north before you get there at a place called Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Motorbike hire from Nicea Location Rent just near the railway station (Gare Nice Ville) in Rue de Belgique.
