I never would have thought a Thai restaurant behind a pub in Nunhead, south London could be this good. Walk behind Skehan's Irish pub and enter a side gate and it's like a beautiful little oasis. Hanging baskets everywhere, pagoda style outdoor dining area and big glass windows in the restaurant. Lighting is low and mellow - great when you're the wrong side of 29.
I had the Weeping Tiger - grilled sirloin with special Thai spices, delicious. Started with dim sum, again really good. A meal for four with starters, main courses and wine cost £80.
Well worth a visit.

The Stein Inn states that it is the oldest inn on the Isle of Skye, and its venerable bars, sturdy walls and highly impressive archive of malts certainly lend veracity to the claim. There is a wide range of beers and other drinks, the food menu is ample, and the service is attentive and prompt.
In good weather (or foul weather if you're after the complete Highland experience) you can sit outside and take in the view of Loch Bay towards Loch Dunvegan and, if the day was really clear, as far as the wonderfully named Gob na Hoe (could anyone, even a Scot, spit that far?).

The most central Mexican restaurant in Ljubljana, this is a great reasonable restaurant for vegetarians, with massively generous portions of great quality foods. Try the tortilla lasagne for the ultimate in fusion food.
From Preseren Trg, go down Wolfova, the alley besides number 6 Wolfova leads to a run of restaurants including Cantina Mexicana.

We spent a lovely afternoon in Cup yesterday. Cool sounds and delicious freshly made food. Soup and toasted sandwiches, great for a chilly autumn day. The Aretha Franklin smoothy was fantastic. Went there for lunch and then returned for a pot of tea and cake. The carrot cake was yummy but the flourless chocolate cake was amazing. Found out lots of interesting stuff about tea, we'll be going back next time we're in Manchester.

Il Bacaro is an awesome restaurant about five minutes from the Pantheon. Like a lot of places in the area it's not exactly cheap, but it's also not astronomically expensive, and for sure less pretentious than many places in the center. One thing really separates it from the competition; the quality of the food. Prepared fresh daily by skilled, caring personnel, as much love as time and effort go into cooking these fabulous dishes and makes all the difference in taste. Seasonal menus are also a bonus, meaning you only get food REALLY in season at the time. The pumpkin sauce is to die for, the meat delectable, and leaving without dessert may just be a cardinal sin.

A modern twist on a tea-house that is also a restaurant. So far I have had brunch, afternoon tea and dinner there! I love it because it's a relaxed environment with great food and you can people watch everyone going past on Whiteladies Road. The staff are very friendly and helpful when trying to choose a tea which is a bit overwhelming at first.

Klassz is both a wine store and a restaurant. Very good food and reasonably priced; a great atmosphere and unusual decor. Excellently located on the stylish Andrassy ut.

Superbly located on the riverfront walk outside the Crown Casino and accessed via the Crown Promenade inside Melbourne's world class casino, the Waterfront does not disappoint.
With a name like - Waterfront Fish Market, the emphasis is obviously on seafood and to that end, Waterfront provides an elegant dining experience as the seafood is sublime.
For those who prefer something different, a variety of steaks done by weight is offered; anything up to 900gms of ribeye is for the carnivores in us.
Side dishes of salads are for the vegetarians or the hungry and to finish, a nice choice of desserts is available including their famous Belgian Chocolate Fondant! Yum!
A very good beverage menu also provides diners with an excellent choice of Australian and mainly French wines (red, white and sparkling).
Waterfront should be visited and enjoyed. Not cheap but well worth it.

In this small Austrian village, you'll find an exceptional restaurant with beautifully creative dishes. Mid-day meals very reasonably priced. Evenings are more expensive than other restaurants in the area. Great dining which retains a touch of its Austrian roots.
Its a 20 minute taxi from downtown, but this place serve some fantastic food including the best barbequed pork ribs I have ever tasted. The Jamaican chicken served with plaintain and the Roasted duck (advance order only) are outstanding. Popular also is their breakfast for dinner.
Pick up a good bottle of wine from a supermarket and jump into a taxi. But do call early as the restaurant barely seats 25 max and they fill up fast.

Cosy and friendly restaurant in the heart of Biarritz next to Les Halles market. Drinks are very reasonable (could get a nice bottle of red wine for 16€) and food is lovely. We had cote de boeuf with frites for two (39€) and were pleasantly surprised with the huge pile of meat presented to us... Thoroughly recommend it!

A stylish medieval town with Roman, Moor and Christian heritage. Great place to spend a few days enjoying the historic sites, local food (recommend Time Out for friendly atmosphere) and cafes (recommened Cafe 35- great patron; and Cafe Arcada- great pastries and 1950s atmosphere). Try the gelados at Gelateria Zoka.
Have fun discovering your own favourites: the old town is a rabbit warren of narrow streets that can easily be walked around, but make for some pretty extreme driving that's not for the faint hearted.
The whole place is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
About 1.5 hours east of Lisbon on the way to the Spanish border.

The Patravadi Theatre in Bangkok is renowned, but fewer people know about the free performances that can be seen on weekend nights at the Studio 9 restaurant within the theatre compound. With stunning views across the Chao Phraya River to the illuminated Grand Palace and a good value menu of modern Thai dishes the restaurant is appealing in its own right.
But what really makes it a location for a night to remember are the free displays of contemporary Thai performing arts which are shown on Friday and Saturday evenings. With dining tables set around the performance area this is a unique opportunity to see innovative young artists displaying their skills while tucking in to a delicious meal. On the night of our visit we were mesmerised by lithe acrobats contorting themselves within swinging hoops, and seemingly magically suspended from fluid streams of silk, all to a background of haunting Thai music.

Great Japanese food. Rated in Bridgestone Guide. Really nice atmosphere. Little different than the usual Galway fare.

Cocktail bar in Lower East Side. AMAZING cocktails, including ones made with house-infused vodkas in various flavours. Has a nice zinc top bar for that classic NY cocktail bar experience. The bartender was really friendly, and we even got some lovely aperitifs on the house to go with our drinks.
Make sure you don't miss it though - we initially thought it was shut, as there is just a small sign and you have to go downstairs to get to it! Incidentally we also ate at one of it's sister restaurants, Schillers, which was also lovely.

This is the best place to hear bluegrass music in the world. Everybody who is anybody has played there or will. They have the greatest house band I've ever heard, "The Time Jumpers", made up of the funniest, fastest, and most dazzlingly proficient session musicians in the city.
The Station Inn is an institution, but also completely unwrecked by its success. And it's just gotten better - they have smoked barbeque that they make in some weird cast iron septic tank looking thing that is delicious. If you do one thing in Nashville, go hear music there. You won't regret it.

Bar on Houston St in New York. A really nice little bar with a great atmosphere. Make sure you go up the stairs and not to the bar below, which is a completely different place! We went in happy hour (around 6pm-8pm I think), which was cheap cocktails and 2-4-1 on draught beers (and good ones at that - try the Brooklyn white or pilsner). The best thing was that here Happy Hour stipulates that you MUST have two drinks each to benefit - brilliant, more beer! Also it's just down the road from Katz's deli so perfect for pre/post sandwich drinking. They also had cheap tacos on that night, which also looked pretty good, and they seemed to have various different food and drinks offers on each night of the week.

By now it must be obvious that I'm hopelessly in love with Tuscany and its fabulous vistas, and Montecatini Terme doesn't disappoint at all.
Though the springs and spas that sprung up around them draw a fair bit of business, it's much less touristy than many other places in Tuscany one can hit. And why argue with a place where I can enjoy hot springs AND Tuscan cuisine?
At Ercolini & Savi, I was treated not only to a lovely stay by another warm, welcoming staff, but the restaurant was just FABULOUS. And when not eating in the hotel they were very kind with recommendations. Since they helped organize so much for me and gave me a stress free holiday I promised them I'd spread the word!
