This restaurant is about 45 minutes out of town, near Zaachila. It has excellent food and it's also great to go with kids. It's an open restaurant with hammocks around and lots of fun for kids and the food is great - try the mole with turkey or the pit barbacoa of goat or lamb in avocado leaves.
Also good antojitos (especially the tlayudas) and other Oaxacan specialties that you’d find in an outdoor restaurant. Unless you have a car, you’ll need to hire a taxi by the hour and have him wait.

Just went over to Bruges and visited this great chocolate shop. It was a chilly morning and Francoise (Fa) Thomaes and Barbe Van Den Haute were serving fantastic hot chocolate in their first floor tea-room. A great big cup of Belgian chocolate hot milk in a floating island of chocolate filled with fresh cream!! On the side - fresh Belgian pralines from their chocolatier. Decadent and delicious!
I enjoy my visits here as they always help in choosing just the right selection for my daughter Joanna.
One of the most reasonable restaurants in Prague is, surprisingly, the level 2 cafeteria at Ruzyne airport terminal 1. Not to be confused with the extortionate establishments downstairs and heavily patronised by Czech aircrews, the cafeteria can be accessed both from the transit lounge and departure hall.
Hearty Czech soups are cooked daily, fresh tea can be had from big caddies or, if you want to spend more, they will cook a steak for you to order and the cook will bring it to the table.

New restaurant on Cheetham Hill Road Manchester, Amazing, amazing curries and kebabs. I go there all the time and it gets better and better. Go and see for yourself.

Just been to Leyburn today, to find someone's finally opened a decent bakery there - at last! It's a wonderful market town but has always been missing a bakery. Now someone's opened one - and an organic artisan one too. There seem to be dozens of them in Cumbria and in London, but never round the Yorkshire Dales. They do wonderful hand made breads, as well as cakes and pastries. Just wish they had a cafe, but the shop is tiny so all you can get is take-away coffees and sandwiches. Still, well worth a visit - I hope everyone supports it!

The most amazing Indian food I have ever tasted in modern chic surroundings, it's just a couple of minutes' walk from Bold Street. Definitely try the Paneer Makhani - diced cottage cheese simmered in creamy tomato sauce with just a touch of honey.
Also fab is the Patrani Sea Bass which is steamed with coconut, sesame, coriander and mint and enveloped in banana leaf. The lunch menu is very tasty with a choice of nine dishes all very reasonably priced. Finish it off with a fruit sorbet which is divine! I love it so much here I actually ate both my lunch and dinner there last week!

A stylish all purpose cafe-bar with good bar food, lovely cakes and pastries, excellent local brewed Beagle Ales, and low key jazz and other live entertainment.
It's all in a 100 year-old corrugated tin house on the dockfront crammed with prints and paraphernalia which tells the compelling history of the settlement.
This is a great cafe on Rodney Street in central Liverpool, not far from Liverpool Lime Street. They serve a wide range of food; from light lunches to amazing cakes.
I recommend it for convenience, price, atmosphere and generally being a really nice place to hang out for the day.
They have great fresh coffee, the beans are apparently imported from Portugal. After an hour drinking coffee and some delicious 'chocolate salami' we decided to have lunch. The menu had a fantastic selection, all at incredibly reasonable prices, including some Portuguese dishes as well as the old favourites like salads, sandwiches and paninis. I wanted something light so went for the roast vegetable bruschetta, my friend went for the cod fishcakes. Both were excellent and cost around £4.

Colonial era coffee estate farm set in delightful gardens on edge of Ngorogoro crater. Recommended for its kitchen garden, working farm, setting and stylish accommodation. Go for the new rooms with outdoor showers and verandahs. The food is a cut above.
So lovely you'll probably want two nights - at the Manyara/Ngorogoro stage of your Northern Circuit safari.
On a recent trip to New York I scoured the city to find the best family restaurants serving gluten-free food for coeliacs. I am the coeliac in our family but we needed a place where my four-year-old daughter was welcome too.
I found about ten restaurants and diners, many of which had separate gluten-free menus. I will only mention the five I visited and can vouch for (was not violently ill afterwards). They were all child-friendly and demonstrated an excellent knowledge of what is involved in preparing safe food for coeliacs, including the issue of cross contamination.
Bloom’s Delicatessen Café:
An informal, diner-style restaurant. Separate gluten-free menu. GF specialties are omlettes, hamburgers, fish, steak, and probably the best place in NY to eat guaranteed GF French fries (you can buy them to take-away too). Open all day until late. Take-away and delivery service. Budget - cheap.
Outback Steak House:
An Australian themed restaurant with a separate gluten-free menu. Typically satisfying steak house fare with a couple of indulgent GF desserts and a children’s menu. Open all day until late. Budget - medium.
Peter’s Gourmet Diner/Restaurant:
A firm favourite. Peter’s is the best place for GF informal all-day food on the Upper East Side, especially good for breakfast and brunch. It’s not huge, though there are terraces at the back and front of the restaurant for outside dining in warmer weather. American diner-style eating with an extensive menu and probably the most varied GF menu for casual eating I’ve ever seen: pancakes, waffles, omelettes, all kinds of eggs, loads of sandwiches, burgers, plus a full dinner menu, and desserts. If there is something you want that is not on the menu they will have a go at making it for you too. Friendly service. Open all day until late. Delivery available. Budget - cheap.
A small, popular, informal dinner venue with some fantastic authentic risotto recipes. This place is busy most nights, though tables clear quite quickly so booking isn’t usually necessary. Risotteria serves all manner of fantastically cooked GF risottos, pizza, salads, desserts, and even GF beer. GF breadsticks on the table are home baked and delicious. A restaurant truly dedicated to coeliacs. Seating is squeezed in a bit but worth it. Budget - cheap/medium.
A large, popular, family-orientated restaurant on the Upper West Side. Sambuca is a great place to enjoy an unhurried family dinner (not open for lunch). It serves southern Italian food, with a separate GF menu that includes a really good range of GF pastas and sauces, as well as chicken, veal, steak, seafood , vegetable dishes, plus homemade GF bread and chocolate brownies. Good for parties and celebrations too. Lively ambience. We had one of our best evenings here.

We went there on Saturday February 3 2008 and had a really lovely meal. The staff were friendly, the food was really good, and the presentation, texture and taste were superb. The chef even comes around to all the tables to ask if everything is OK - not something that I have experienced before. We will certainly be going there again in the near future, and have already booked the table.
Usually during Ramadan, there is a great scarcity of food in restaurants as all respect fasting norms during the day. Most restaurants are closed so the only place you'd find food is the hotel where you are based. This causes travel hardships as you cannot stop at different places to have lunch or afternoon meals while travelling.
Sitting atop six huge hot water tanks on a hill in Reykjavik, Perlan (the Pearl) restaurant is one of the top eateries in Iceland, with prices that go with its reputation. One floor down, however, is the inexpensive cafe, where extended local families gather on the weekend to sip a beer and eat Italian ice cream. Surrounded by windows on all sides and with access to the viewing platform outside, this is a great place to take in all of Reykjavik and the mountains beyond. As the sun moves towards the horizon, the surrounding landscape becomes bathed in a wonderful golden light (weather permitting of course!)

Alcossebre is a lovely town with three lovely beaches (all blue flag) and lots of quality restaurants that cater for those wanting romance, family or tapas-style food. Although Brits are finally discovering the town and the surrounding area, Alcossbre still retains its Spanish roots.
It is ideally located to discover the wonderful Costa Del Azahar - the larger holiday resorts, Peniscola and Benicassim are about 20 mins drive away. You can relax, play golf, scuba dive and cycle to your hearts content.

Taikang Lu is located near the central shopping street of Huaihai Xi Lu. It's one of the few remaining hutongs in the city. It offers an authentic Chinese feel, whilst resembling parts of Mediterranean Europe. Locals hang out their washing and go about their daily lives whilst you can visit boutiques and enjoy a range of international foods, including excellent Chinese cuisine.
Wicked stuff, this feijoada is! For those who are wondering what the heck I'm talking about, feijoada is known as the main dish in Rio de Janeiro, deservedly so.
In the Casa de Feijoada, it's an everyday ritual (unlike other restaurants around where they only serve it on Saturdays and Sundays). It's basically a bean soup with pieces of meat, such as sausage, sundried beef and pork, seasoned to taste. Somehow I thought a bit of Tabasco sauce would bring it all together, but alas, not necessary as the dish itself has some zest to it.
Don't pass up on the opportunity to try this spectacular food while in Rio, or you might regret it!
