Cosy holiday cottage in the beautiful fishing village of Gardenstown, Abderdeenshire. My partner and I enjoyed fabulous food (courtesy of the Harbour Cafe) and wonderful walks along rugged, and unspoilt coastline.

This is a great open air cafe in a quiet(ish) street off the main drag in Manly. Worth visiting on those busy summer mornings!

I've been to Nexxt twice and the food is great. The menu is huge, the portions are huge. Meal for two for between $40 and $80.
Note: check your bill carefully because our waiter added charges for things we didn't order. Despite that I went back and would return again.

The new Cafeteria Castelo located in Panteli, the picturesque fisherman's village. It is right on the beach with an excellent view, the place serves coffees, ice creams, various drinks, light meals, pizza and breakfast.

This place is amazing - totally retro original 50s decor with the BEST ice cream that they make fresh every day on site. You can really taste the difference. They also have ice cream parlours in Harrods, London and Selfridges, Birmingham - so you know they serve the best! I thoroughly recommend it!

This restaurant is a (not so) hidden gem where where the chef, the lovely Nathalie, cooks beautiful and original dishes using fresh local ingredients. Her husband runs the dining room and will give you tips on which wine will suit your meal better.
Their cooking book "trop mad" has recently won the first prize in the "Best local cookbook in the world" competition in Beijing.
Go there and you're in for a real treat.

We went to Mallorca for 2 weeks and this was the best food we ate while we were there.
It's a small restaurant, seating maybe 20 at the most - it's business card says, Bistro, Cocina de Mercado.
The food was amazing - they have a fixed 5 course menu that changes each month for 22.50 Euros and it was just incredible: I remember mostly the caramelised pate, chicken and asparagus in filo, there was a fish dish, and a beautiful desert that had fresh strawberry or raspberry sorbet.
Much better than the restaurant at Hotel Portixol by a coutry mile or three.
I'm thinking of going back every month.

I try to eat as much pho as possible and I'm always looking for new pho restaurants. The only place that I've found in South Beach that serves pho is Sushi Saigon on Washington Ave.
For about $12 you can have a giant bowl of beef noodle soup. Service is very friendly. The pho is very good, even though it lacks beef tendons and tripe.
It's often difficult to find good Mexican food, and it's often difficult to find good food in South Beach period. But Lime Fresh Mexican Grill on Alton Road is a fantastic exception. I highly recommend the chicken mole burritos for about US$8. It's great food on a budget.
This friendly restaurant in the north Brittany town of Ploubalay is fruits de mer HQ. Towering piles of crustaceans at very reasonable prices.
Good-value menus too. Best to call ahead to check opening hours and make sure of a table.

A lovely new branch of an all-day dim sum restaurant. Really fantastic staff, truly great food, excellent, good quality and not too pricey cocktails.
Plus, order the Jasmine Flower tea - beautifully served, art in a glass that tastes lovely. Our food (a lot of it) was served a gentle but constant pace to our table on the patio outdoors. And when we left we were shocked that the bill was only just over £40 inc. service, drinks and far too many dim sum. Fantastic. The drinks were nice enough to justify just going for a couple of pre-theatre/ post-shopping cocktails (made with fresh fruits, herbs and al ot of ice - ideal for summer).

A bustling small harbour with a daily fish market strewn with nets and lobster pots. There are some great no-nonsense brasseries on the waterfront such as La Marée (+2 31 21 41 00), with friendly, knowledgeable staff (they told us which village our oysters came from).
The coquilles St Jacques, huge sweet scallops, were fantastic and ridiculously cheap compared to back home. If you're visiting the Normandy beaches this is a good spot to stop for lunch.
There are just three rooms at this intimate chambre d'hôte (B&B) in the shadow of Bayeux cathedral.
The 15th-century stone terrace has been lovingly restored by its owners to reveal the original wooden-beamed ceilings. Breakfast and dinner can be served in the flower-filled courtyard.
The charming rooms are great value, as is the all-inclusive dinner: aperitif of pommeau (a liquer made from apple juice or cider, and calvados) dinner came with cider and was followed with a digestif of calvados, chicken casserole was cooked in cider, then tarte aux pommes. Yes, this is the land of la pomme.

Tuskers is a great pub and restaurant in Chiang Mai. I was recommended it by the Elephant Nature Park as they give a 10% donation to elephant conservation.
It is a huge place with a great open bar, big garden, pool room and a separate sports bar so something for everyone. I had a relaxing meal listening to music in the garden while a big crowd was watching rugby upstairs.
The food was excellent, they have a western and Thai menu and serve cocktails. The staff were very friendly and gave advice on where to go in Chiang Mai.

A little off the beaten track of lanes in the town but worth finding. Interesting and varied menu (especially compared to a lot of that on offer elsewhere in town) and very reasonably priced.
Staff delightful, very friendly and helpful. After your meal the bar is a fun relaxed place to continue an evening.
From the port follow Matoyianni street and where you see Nautica (restaurant) on the corner, turn left into the lane.
