It's a favourite haunt. It does a really nice buffet with a good variety. Plenty of nice vegetables. Polite and pleasant staff. The 'meat' dishes look and taste authentic. We took some devoted-meat-eating friends there a few months back and bundled them in without their seeing the word 'vegan' on the outside. They didn't believe us when we confessed they'd just heartily enjoyed a vegan meal!! Great! A recommended evening would be to go there for the main and then over Soho Square to Soho Street and Govinda's for desert (very yummy!), though the latter closes at 8pm.

Although purely vegetarian, this Southern Indian restaurant is the best place for a curry in Birmingham. Don't just take my word for it, the walls are adorned with photos of TV chefs visiting! There's enormous variety in the menu, to ensure that no meat eater will go away feeling robbed. Plus, there's a fantastic sweet shop next door.

I did the Great Glen Way (a five-day walk) a couple of years ago and had a memorable meal at a place we discovered on the way. Basically, it's a barge moored at Laggan Locks, the end of day two of the walk. Having been told about it the previous night in Gairlochy we called to book, told the bloke what food we liked and arrived to the most ridiculous oversized feast of local seafood and other nice stuff, all for a pitifully small sum. The whole experience was totally, if pleasingly, bonkers – a man, his dog, only two customers, a barge full of odd historical memorabilia and a lot of good food.
The walk, by the way, was pretty good but frustratingly, a lot of the walking route followed the same path as the cycle route and I felt that we wouldn't have lost much, and would have got to Inverness a lot quicker, if we'd been on bikes.

Experience a chunk of Harry's trip to Hogwarts by going over Glenfinnan Viaduct on the West Highland railway line between Fort William and Mallaig.
Better still, stop and visit the viaduct itself - you can walk up to it easily from the visitors centre, which also has information about the nearby Bonnie Prince Charlie's monument, set amidst some of the most spectacular scenery on the west coast.
After working up an appetite, head to Glenfinnan Station's Dining Car - a cafe in a converted carriage - for afternoon tea of homemade scones with jam and thick cream.
While you're there, don't miss the fascinating Glenfinnan Station Museum - a real labour of love containing displays about the building of the railway and viaduct, along with ephemera from the railway age. If all that tires you out, you can always overnight at the Glenfinnan Sleeping Car, too...

I really enjoyed eating at this place while on my holidays. A great restaurant with authentic Greek recipes, a very funny owner, great views from the restaurant verandah, I really recommend it.
In the Rías Baixas, each season and each month has its own gastronomical festival to honour the different tasty food of this region.
So, for example, the first two weeks of April, there is an oyster festival. The festival is during this date because the oysters are in the best moment to be tasted. Together with the gastronomic festival, there are other performances for the public.
You can enjoy non-stop eating from the oyster sample plates.
In and around Rue Daru is a small Russian community where you can find Russian restaurants and shops to browse around. The grandest feature however is the Orthodox Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky, which is an impressive sight, both outside and in.

The Einich is a small and friendly cafe/restaurant located in the Rothiemurchus Visitor Centre at Inverdruie just south of Aviemore. Good value lunches and evening meals with some imaginative menu options.

Mandraki is a must. The old town has its own charm but Mandraki represents the cosmopolitan Rhodes. There you will find everything. The Italian Art Deco buildings, the Agora with many shops and restaurants. Just at the entrance of the market there are kiosks with foreign books and newspapers.
On the promenade, visit the Zaharoplasteion Dimitriadis, one of the oldest pastry shops. Enjoy the view of the windmills and the two pillars with the deer at the port entrance.
Just behind the Taxi terminal inside the arcade there are some good old restaurants with very cheap prices.
