We started from Cagliari and drove for one and a half hours to Portovesme where we caught a ferry to Carloforte, a small town in the island of San Pietro, 45 minutes from Sardinia. We also boarded our car and the trip was quite comfortable.

On arrival, we unloaded the car and parked it near the harbour, easy peasy! Man, that boat was something.

The morning after the real fun started, we sailed for most of the morning and the views of Carloforte and Sardinia's south-west coast were just there, like a precious frame for a priceless painting, my sea.

We stopped just on a side of Pan di Zucchero, a stunning huge surfacing rock in front of Masua bay, and stayed there swimming and diving and snorkeling.

Rio is a great place for marlin fishing, not to mention other fish species you wont find back home.

You can count on safe, luxurious and very comfortable boats, acting in leisure, business corporation and educational areas, offering the following schedule; boat location for the Rio de Janeiro state; boat tour around the marvelous city; yachting clinic with base in Angra dos Reis and more.

Bungsamran Fishing Resort is the only place I know where you can catch a 40lb fish a cast!

They now also provide fully catered facilities, air conditioned bungalows, restuarants, shops and cafe.

There's really no better way to get out and see the islands.

Go fishing and catch yourself a whopper, jump on a sailboat and feel the waves under you, or hit up a jetboat ride (best in waves if you like adrenaline!).

Take a boat trip, go mackerel fishing (on a mackerel pleasure trip as the sign used to have it) or buy fresh fish down on the beach. Get drowsy and happy in the cliff top garden of the Anchor Inn.

Go second hand book shopping in a hidden garage book shop (look for the sign on the pavement near the top of Fore Street), stock up on surf gear at Jimmy Green's or pick up some well-priced art at the Steam Gallery.

I also learned how to surf. We went fishing and caught a boat load of Yellowfin Tuna - 27 to be exact as well as one Sailfish which we let go. Also got to see a lot of schools of dolphins jumping all over the place and a whale spouting in the distance. I can't wait to go back and am considering purchasing land and building there. In the summer, this same restaurant serves a schwimmbad situated on the grassy banks of the north side of the lake, with excellent children's facilities, pedalos, etc. A modest fee is charged for entrance.

Burtonport is a fishing village which is the gateway to Arranmore, a wonderful island to vist, and a myriad of other islands. An enterprising one-man band, he has set up 3 tables under cover on the beach and offers fantastic seafood dishes with traditional breads.
Bring your own beverages and be sure to book in advance as he sources everything on the day.

Also, ask about his early morning fishing trips. He will take up to 4 people out on his boat to catch the restaurant's fish for the day. He then cooks your catch for you and all of this is done at a fraction of the cost of similar trips at nearby
hotels.
