Nice little cottage, everything easy, lots to see and do roundabout. Whitehaven is a hidden gem.

    The Madonie

Posted by caupolican 26 February 2007

These hills are beautiful, high, and very little visited. There are some wonderful towns where you can feel the atmosphere and brooding isolation - Castelbuono, Petralia Soprana. The beach at Cefalu is beautiful. Just don't expect to drive at more than 30mph on the hairpins!

    Love a German organ?

Posted by TomBrazil 12 October 2006

Mariana, another baroque city worth a visit, can boast of the presence of the only organ by German baroque builder Arp Schitger to be found in the Americas (housed in the Mariana Cathedral). The organ is in playing condition and is usually heard in concerts on Fridays and Sundays.

Mariana is a half-hour bus ride away down a spectacular river valley.
