Hotel Restaurant du Chateau

Posted by MaxReger 3 June 2007

This good hotel stands across the river from the wonderful castle of Josselin. It offers a range of excellent rooms which have retained their essentially French character. The restaurant takes the form of an enormous baronial hall, with swords and shields galore but the important thing is that the food is excellent. Many of the rooms have a view of the castle opposite, and in the early morning the mists from the river disperse to reveal a huge curtain wall, topped by steeps roofs, turrets and pinnacles galore.

60km west of Rennes, off the N24; 40 north of Vannes, off the D778.

This small hotel defies the usual descriptions so favoured by the glitzy brochures, expensively produced by the Turkish holiday companies & tour operators. İt has, during the last 6 years, established a reputation for comfort, good food and excellent hospitality. Having now broken free from the chains of UK operators, Misafir Evi seeks to re-establish itself as an independent concern for those travellers and tourists who prefer a good read to watching the ubiquitous flat screen tv and a walk in the Turkish country side to a workout in the gym.

Hotel Pension Alla Lenz

Reasonably cheap and very clean. Easy access from U-Bahn and trams. Vienna Card gets you anywhere of interest - and with discounts.

Good, adequate, breakfast. There is a swimming pool up on the roof - they'll open it up if you ask them. We stayed in a discounted standard double - paid cash for discount.

Me and my wife booked by a web site, RoomsAccomodation, customer service was attentive and enormous efforts were made. We talked with them by skype and by mail
to reserve a perfect pick up service from the airport with a blue Mercedes, they also gave us tips about restaurants, (Hostaria de Pegno near Piazza Navona) nightlife, and sightseeng.

About the hotel La griffe - it's beautifully done and still very comfortable (fashionable and friendly). The location, in Via Nazionale, is great and the staff are first rate. If you can get a good
room rate, (with Rooms Accomodation we payed 375 € (special offer). I think this is a nice hotel for both the business and leisure traveller.

That's a hotel reservation service, we booked hotel La Griffe in Via Nazionale, they gave us the lowest rate.

Website where you can barter for a price for a hotel room. Rooms get cheaper on weekends as businesspeople stay at home. It's almost always cheaper than booking directly. You don't get to know exactly which hotel you'll be staying at - only the area. But a room's a room, innit.

Urbanica Suites Apart Hotel

Posted by mary2k 30 May 2007

I got in touch with this hotel through their website, and I made a reservation. They answered that they were under construction, and the lobby and cafe were still undone. So they offered me a great deal to stay with them.
What can I say? The service was excellent! Since we were 4 guests in the whole hotel, we had an extremely personalised service. They were very nice to us. The manager herself took our breakfast every day to our room.
The hotel is gonna be great when they open it, because the concept is the design. The rooms are big and the decoration is very nice.
But the best thing is the attention.
Thanks to all the staff of Urbanica Suites for providing us with the best holiday in Buenos Aires!

It's in Montañeses 2585, Buenos Aires.
In a very nice neigbourhood, called Belgrano. Nearby you have a great shopping area! But the area is in general quiet and very classy.

Hotel Agnello D'Oro

Posted by stopper 29 May 2007

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL in Bergamo's Citta Alta. It has a One am curfew. They were not flexible AT ALL about negotiating this and refused to give us a key. On two occassions, over a long weekend break we had to leave friends early to make sure we were allowed back in. Some bars in the Citta Alta seemed to carry on untill at least three am. - with people of all ages strolling about the street outside our hotel enjoying themselves. Because we were there for a friend's wedding and there was also a cycling event that weekend we found it impossible to look for or find alternative accomodation at such short notice. If you like spontaneity then this is not the place to stay.

Hotel Alminar

Posted by JessicaAldred 23 May 2007

A quiet and friendly hotel despite its central location (it literally is about 50m from the cathedral and main street). There are only 12 rooms in this old building, which have been renovated in a modern style with dark wood and white furnishing, and very sleek bathrooms. If you get a superior room you may be lucky to get one of the two rooms on the top floor, which have outdoor patios giving stunning views of the cathedral. The staff here are genuinely friendly and helpful, and it's a great place to stay.

Hotel Central Basilica

Posted by debgib 16 May 2007

I stayed in this hotel near the St Stephen Basilica. It's quite new, I think they opened this year. The reason I'm writing this post is the price. It's a brand new three-star hotel in the middle of the downtown and a night costs peanuts.

Dapitan Beach Resort Hotel (aka Pavilion Hotel) is owned and run by the local municipal government, who built it maybe 20 years ago from the proceeds of a gigantic US$ loan to promote tourism.

Since opening, the hotel has received next to no maintenance or further investment, but the air-con rooms are all huge and still luxurious - if you overlook the cracked bathroom fittings and the crumbling plasterwork everywhere.

The setting, on Dapitan's Sunset Boulevard, is spectacular, facing a huge 5 mile long white sand beach, with the South China Sea stretching in front of you; it feels like you've reached the end of the world (which you have, in a way...)

Grand luxury and elegance - at Php 1,650 per night (about £17) it's an unmissable bargain. Get there by overnight ferry from Cebu, Negros or Manila to the nearby Dapitan/Dipolog pier, or by plane to Diploog airport. Local motor tricycles will take you the last km or two for Php50 each. My wife and I spent our quite perfect honeymoon there 9 years ago, and we've been back a few times more since then!

Fairwinds is a fabulous small hotel in the village of Carrbridge. Informal and friendly; Alison and Lindsay are excellent hosts. You eat in the conservatory from where you can watch red squirrels feeding. Evening meals, usually chosen from a choice of three items in each part of the menu, and are always superb.

A lovely small hotel in Durness run by a great young couple. Absolutely beautiful rooms with attention to every detail. Reasonable prices for this level of comfort. The breakfast was especially superb. Durness is as far north as you can go on the mainland. The beaches are gorgeous and scenery on the way is spectacular.

Umaid mahal

Posted by travelhero 11 May 2007

This hotel has lovely rooms that include antique furniture and balconies, as well a huge bathroom that was completely black marble. We actually originally booked into the Umaid Bhawan, run by the same family but due to a problem with our room, we were relocated to the Umaid Mahal. However, we were allowed to use the pool at the Umaid Bhawan which was one of our main requirements as we knew the weather would be warm.

The staff were a bit indifferent (apart from the very friendly room cleaning man) but if asked, would organise what you wanted. Being left alone by the staff in some ways was a welcome break from constantly being asked where you were going and whether you wanted a lift (at a price of course !).

The location was in a quiet residential part of town which was about a 15 min drive into Jaipur but there were always autorickshaw drivers outside to take you where you wanted.

Friendly hotel, with great prices, helpful staff and perfect location.
It's three-star accommodation, but the service is way better: it offers studios instead of rooms (with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom) and a buffet breakfast that easily competes with anything offered by higher category hotels. Plus, it is located only two bus-stops from the heart of the city, with a bus that drops you off basically in front of the entrance (arrives every 5 minutes or so). Don't be fooled by the cheap prices either - they have discounts for all seasons, but the quality is really amazing.
I booked it through a webpage (www.budapesthotelstart.com) that also offers other hotels, all for special rates as far as I could tell.

Bobo Hotel

Contemporary boutique hotel in the heart of the best neighborhood in BA - it's surrounded by shops and outdoor restaurants. Only seven rooms, each decorated in a different style: I stayed in the "modernism" room, which included a beautiful balcony. The staff are extremely courteous and hospitable. The nightly rate was only $135. For a complete description, with pictures, go to www.travelmusings.net
