great cyber cafe in Brasov

Posted by KrissyS 13 April 2009

This friendly cyber cafe recently moved location but it is still conveniently situated in the centre of Brasov and continues to provide a great selection of hot and alcoholic drinks. The staff are always on hand to assist customers with xerox, CD burner, card reader, colour printer etc). The internet costs 3RON per hour which is great value.

Make local friends

Posted by johnpeavoy 4 August 2008

You should cultivate friends in locations where you are planning to visit. Make contacts on internet bulletin boards and seek advice from like-minded locals on any activities/hotels/restaurants etc.

This is always the best way to minimise your risk when visiting a new city (or even one that you have been to many times!). Also, be prepared to help others with advice on your own city also :-)

Café Edenborg

Posted by Sissi 25 July 2008

In the Old Town, this little café is friendly and cheaper than most places in the area. The coffee is decent and there’s a little cult bookshop downstairs along with free wi-fi for all which is a real bonus for travellers with laptops as using the internet can be a pricey experience in Stockholm.

Small but perfectly formed cafe next to the Arcohotel in Mitte. Great espresso, big bowls of latte plus free wireless internet (admittedly a bit intermittent).

The whole town

Posted by AntwnPowell 2 June 2007

The town is a Wi-Fi centre, with hotspots all over this small place - the bars, hotels, restaurants, even the tabac and the boating centre. And they are all free to use.

It also has a great beach and every nautical activity you could desire.

Chiang Mai Saloon

Great burgers, steaks, Tex-Mex food. Cold beers, efficient service, pool table, free monkey nuts, free pop corn ... yeah you've guessed I'm not talking about the Sheraton!

Definitely a 'saloon' atmosphere. Friendly owners as well. All topped off with free wifi. Or if you're not carrying your mobile device there's a computer you can use.

A great place in the centre of Kunming with an extensive menu of coffees, cakes and ice cream. I've idled away many hours there as they also provide wireless internet.

This legendary hangout frequented by expats, students, and local residents since 1996 recently moved to a new location (now right across from the US consulate).

The casual cellar atmosphere is cosy and welcoming. The staff pretty much all speak English. The moderately-priced menu (in English and Russian) features tasty American-style food including nachos with homemade chili, and monster burgers like nowhere else in the city.

Free WiFi and internet phone are really conveninent and helpful, and the English-language book and video library can help keep you sane if you're stuck here in winter.

The bar attracts a younger crowd late nights on weekends, especially when there's a DJ or band. It can get a little wild (in a fun way), and it's a great time to meet and party with locals.

Evil Eye Lounge

Posted by HarryFossettsHat 29 January 2007

What is it? A bar that serves food and fantastic cocktails and also has an internet cafe and a shop selling all the booze you've just drank in the bar. But that doesn't do it justice.

It's simply the best bar I think I have been in for a very long time (besides one in Prague and I'm not telling you where that is because it's mine. ALL MINE. OK?).

Spread over 3 floors, the ground floor is home to the shop, internet lounge and the bar itself. To describe it as 'a bar' is an understatement on a parallel with the Hanging Gardens of Babylon being merely a garden. This place is a mecca to booze. I counted 17 seperate types of Absinthe on the wall. 17!

The first floor is home to another room, decked out with comfy seating where you can spread out and lounge around, also a couple of raised bed/seats with curtains and a shedload of fabric in general, along a Thai type theme.

The third floor has yet another room with large sofas and chairs, and as an added bonus it's non-smoking. You do feel a bit detached from the rest of the bar but get enough of your crowd in there and it's more or less all yours.

Food, although I haven't tried it, looked tasty (spying on the plates as they came out) and entirely Thai.

It's worth taking a stool at the bar and watching the lads behind it create cocktails from the mammoth list.

In a word: quality.

email cafe

Posted by constantine 28 April 2006

Apart from in the main station area, there are very few internet cafes in Nice, and this is the only place in the Old Town.

Serving food with fresh ingredients from the market, drinks and snacks, it's a very friendly cafe run by a young Englishman who has lived in Nice for 15 years. There are seven terminals in a separate room, printers and so forth, and ethernet and power sockets by each table in the cafe itself. Also has wi-fi and cable TV for main sporting events.

Happy hour for drinks from 5pm, and English breakfast is on the menu too.
