From the Spit Bridge you have the choice of paddling around to Balmoral Beach, or into Middle Harbour, a less well known and visited part of Sydney Harbour. Just dodge the yachts, though.
Catch the bus to Manly and get off at the Spit Bridge.

Sailing around the Whitsunday islands for two days and two nights on board a luxury catamaran.
With a maximum of 10 passengers, the small group meant we had the freedom to try all of the activities. These included windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding and a clear kayak.
The crew were amazing, providing watersports tuition, fantastic food and interesting information about the region.
We enjoyed a full morning at Whitehaven beach and snorkelled at numerous reefs. On Ice avoids the crowds to get the best experience and the crew cater for all abilities - they even have an air raft for non-swimmers.
Sailing into the sunset, we moored in sheltered bays and marvelled at the stars and milky way.

Don't just admire the stunning Rangitoto in the middle of the harbour - paddle there! A guided round trip takes 6 hours including a climb to the summit for great views of the city and harbour. For extra credibility try the evening option. It was amazing paddling back across the harbour in the dark, just a row of little lights bobbing across the silent water with the city around us. Fantastic.

Quadra is a great island to while away a few days on and has a completely different vibe to Vancouver Island or the mainland. Everyone knows each other, the pubs are relaxed, the barmen ask your name and drink so that they can keep them coming all night. The best bit of the island though is getting off it, sea kayaking with one of the many operators gets you out in the water, seeing whales, bald eagles and bears. A truly stunning experience that gets you out seeing a Canada that you won't get anywhere else.
Hop on a 10 minute ferry from Port Campbell to Quadra where you can stay or keep going on the ferry to Cortes. For more info on the ferry service, go here www.bcferries.com for more info on sea kayaking, www.kayak-adventures.com
