If you want to experience a local hammam try the Bab Doukkala hammam next to the mosque. It is 16th century and has a stunning wood carved ceiling in the changing area and a magnificent domed and arcaded warm room. Men mornings and late evening, women afternoon. Locals only too willing to help you if you dont know the ropes, and you can get a gommage (exfoliation which feels like you are being rubbed with sandpaper). Guys wear trunks and modesty is the order of the day. They say not so for women. A memorable surrounding and experience.
Get a petit taxi to the Bab Doukkala mosque, or walk

Alone in Rio on the weekend? Want to be occupied without doing much? Want to see Rio beach life?
Rent a bike in Ipanema and pedal all the way up to Gloria and back. Don't forget to take in Urca. It's flat, safe (95% bike paths) and very cool; you'll need about four hours if you take it easy (how else?); you'll see a great cross section of Rio people and the view on the way back is quite different from the view on the way there.
Lonely Planet suggests two or three places. It cost me less than 10 quid.
In winter, the pond in Central Park is turned into an ice skating rink (skate hire is available). Even if you don't want to skate, the viewing platform above the rink is highly recommended - the skyline in the background is familiar from many films.
