    Mimi Deli

Posted by MaxT 24 September 2010

We were looking for a vegetarian lunch and this deli has a great selection of freshly made items in their chill cabinet. You can have a mixed plate selection for about 10 euros. Either choosing exactly what you want or leaving the selection to them. Seating inside or take-away. Make sure you ask for a vegetarian platter but also make it clear you don't want meat or fish items. They also serve a big selection of non-veggie items, so might not immediately appreciate the vegetarian thing.

Via B. Colleoni, 26. On the main shopping street in the old town - opposite a restaurant owned by the same people.

    Toast - southside cafe

Posted by jbourn 25 July 2010

A beautiful cafe with incredible food. Off the beaten track slightly, in the heart of Marchmont, so you'll likely avoid swarms of festival-goers, but popular with the locals so it will be fairly busy nonetheless.
Booking is sensible on weekends for brunch, when they serve a classic menu cooked to perfection. Their Full Scottish Breakfast - an essential experience when visiting Edinburgh - is almost definitely the finest in the city. Sandwiches and proper mains available too. All dishes at reasonable prices and guaranteed to delight.

Dim Sum for lunch at Shang Palace is an institution. Having strayed to newer restaurants for a while, I decided to go back to Shang Palace. Why did I ever leave? The room is beautiful, acoustically friendly and the dim sum is amazing. The presentation makes a delicious feast outstanding. Clever little baskets, long white plates with triple compartments with delicacies lovingly arranged - every plate or steamer contains a work of art. Expensive? A little. But for a once in a while treat, you can't beat it. Be sure to get a card for the carpark if you have driven. Parking can be expensive here.

    The Bombardier pub

Posted by jordanpouille 10 November 2005

The Bombardier is a typical British pub stuck between the stunning Panthéon and the Saint Etienne du Mont Church. That might explain why the setting is so different. Everything inside is made of wood and old stones just like the monuments outside. You won't meet as many "Grands Hommes" as in the Panthéon but big screens will help you to support your favourite football or rugby team.

Before the match, go for the delicious "Fish in beer batter" meal. Food is very original, just like beers. Try the old fashioned "Bombardier Cask" beer during the Happy Hours (16h00 to 21h00. Opens at 8 am and closes at 2. am, 7 days a week.

    Bombardier, place du Panthéon - 75005 Paris.Tel.:01 43 54 79 22. How to go: metro Maubert-Mutualité, line 10 or RER B Luxembourg.
