A number of the hotels surrounding Heathrow Airport offer good deals on car parking. This means that should you want to park your car at Heathrow - it can be a similar cost to get a night in the hotel and parking as just parking on its own! Contact the hotels directly for further deals and details.

Travelodge now charge for parking but don't inform you. We had booked to stay near Stansted airport at Great Dunmow - no mention on the booking confirmation - and when we arrived late at night there were no signs and reception didn't mention it. Next morning we found a parking ticket for £20 slapped on the windscreen. Complaints to customer services just received the brush-off reply that the parking area is nothing to do with Travelodge and run by a separate company. This makes for an expensive stay. Beware!!
It is horrible to try to go to the centre of Prague with your car. If you do not have to, do not do it. If you have to, be careful when parking especially where parking zones are.
On www.abcprague.com I have found helpful guideline how to avoid problems with parking in the centre of Prague.
Prague has parking zones now and there are 3 types of zones:
* Blue zones - just for residents and local companies
* Orange zones - short time parking (up to 2 hours) for 40 CZK per hour (8 AM to 6 PM) and
* Green zones - parking up to 6 hours for 30 CZK per hour (8 AM to 6 PM).
This is just brief info, for more information try original www.abcprague.com/2008/05/28/parking-zones-in-prague
If you have a hire car and are coming to San Sebastian for more than a day, park your car for free at one of the car parks off Avenida de tolosa next to the University (to the west of the city centre) and get the 5 or 25 Donostia Bus service into town (€1.20 /single). Otherwise 24hr underground garages in the centre cost about €13/day and there is no long term street parking anywhere near the city centre.

Not always popular, this is a pub turned country bar/restaurant with rooms. It has however managed to preserve the welcome comfiness usually associated with a pub atmosphere. Here dogs are welcome and dress code is casual but equally as smart as you like. The location, just 4 miles south of Bath is not only highly accessible but absolutely stunning - so close to the city yet in the very real and beautiful countryside. In summer the terrace beckons, overlooking the lovely country garden and in winter the smell of wood smoke from the log lures you inside to the modern yet rustic interior. Real Ale and local cider are there to tempt the traditional taste accompanied by a surprising and outstanding european wine list. (The owner is passionate about his wine and this is not only reflected in the selection but also the price - some bargains to be had here!) The food is top shelf quality, simple yet sumptuous. The Wheatsheaf has its own kitchen garden and hens - this is genuine homemade stuff. Chef Lee Evans is surely a rising star, ingredients sourced locally and cooked simply, combining flavours with a modern theme without using unneccessary fuss. Homemade breads served with local butter and indeed local rapeseed oil - which gives the usual olive oil a run for its money. The staff are friendly and efficient, the whole experience was delightful and the good news is they have a few rooms as well.

Here's a good free place for parking in Avignon: in the centre of Avignon go across the Pont Daladier, and take the first right. Great free parking spaces by the river, and it's a perfect photo opportunity for the Avignon bridge.
Either walk back across the bridge for direct access to Avignon walled city, or walk down the river and get the free ferry across the river.
Parking costs are OTT in Sydney in the week but during the weekend use the Wilson group car parks. They tend to be a lot cheaper and are very secure.
I recommend that if you visit Lytham you park on the road as you may find that the car parks have yellow 'not in service' bags on them. However the wardens ignore these and ticket your car anyway.

A small little bay with a beautiful sandy beach hugged by gorgeous natural vegetation and an amazing view of Manly. A little cafe provides the perfect lunch or dinner venue.
A great place to beat the crowds.
Get the boat to Manly from Circular Quay. Walk through to the beack and turn right and just follow the bay round to Cabbage Tree Bay.
Science museum up north not far from Parque Guell (the Gaudi park) - museum full of didactic machines and good explanations - kids loved it and so did us parents - to make a real day of it make trip coincide with planetarium thingys, etc.

If hiring a car, when parking it, even in public car parks, be prepared to pay both for parking and for someone to "mind" your car. Once parked, 9 times out of 10 you will be approached by someone who will offer to keep an eye on your car for a small fee. A couple of Rand is an acceptable payment.
If you're in Avignon with a car, go to the free park and ride on the Ile Piot. The buses drop you by one of the main city gates and run every 10 mins or so.
Free meter parking in Manhattan is the holy grail for most drivers. On weekends, free meter parking can be found on side streets (not the main avenues) in Chelsea. Aim for south of 21st Street down to about 15th and between 8th and 10th.

For a fun atmosphere, decent food, and flirty Italian waiters, it's hard to beat Steps of Rome Trattoria. This is a great little place in San Francisco's acclaimed North Beach district, which is arguably one of the most popular areas in SF for dining. Also, right next door is the original Steps of Rome Caffe - the Trattoria's "older sister," if you will. Atmosphere here is a little more refined and quieter than the Trattoria. The food is also more expensive, but it's good.
(Tip: The biggest downside to North Beach is that parking is even worse here than most other SF regions - in other words, it's pretty close to nonexistent. Spring for a parking lot, or take public transportation. If you do find a lot, don't lose your ticket! I did that once and ended up paying over $30 to get my car out of the lot. Boo!)

I travelled to New York by car from another state. No one warned me not to park on the street. My car was broken into twice (two nights running) before someone told me that I should have parked it in one of the secure car parks. Better advice would probably be not to drive, however if you do need to take a car into New York, I recommend using one of the many lock-up garages.
