Chez Dede di Trevi

Posted by PierreGa 18 July 2011

If you are fed up of galettes and crepes (I don't think this is possible but let's suppose so), go to Chez Dede, the pizzeria serving the largest pizzas in Rennes. The "tire-fesses" is particularly worth trying with reblochon cheese. Plus you get a Carambar if you manage to finish your pizza!

Winnies Gourmet Pizza Bar

Posted by JBeGood 3 May 2011

The BEST Pizza in Queenstown! Very family friendly and is totally unique. The roof opens! Have never seen that anywhere before. After dinner when the restaurant closes the bar stays open and Winnies turns in to a club. In the time I was there I saw live music, danced all night to DJ's, watched rugby and partied under the stars ... and snow! Love that roof! Love Winnies!

Franco Manca pizzeria

Posted by LucyRM 21 March 2011

In my humble opinion, Franco Manca serves the best pizza in London. Situated in a modest venue, on two sides of a corridor through Brixton's covered market - and next to the fragrant fish stall - Franco's (as it used to be called when I first became a regular in the late 1980s) offers six pizzas, for extremely reasonable prices - even the most expensive costs less than £6. The newer name Franco's Missing, is a reference to the previous owner.
The sourdough base is prepared 20 hours ahead of baking and then fired in the 260°C oven for 40 seconds so everything is fresh, crisp and piping hot.
The only drawback is it's open when the market is, so not in the evening. A huge queue forms on Saturday lunchtime, snaking right out of the building and into the market, however the staff are pretty efficient so you shouldn't have to wait too long.

Trattoria Pomo D'oro

Posted by LucyRM 14 March 2011

A buzzing Italian restaurant (especially at lunchtime when it's crammed to the gills with office workers and bankers from the local area). Fresh seafood, open grill, home made pasta and oven baked pizza all created with Italian ingredients (not always guaranteed in this city). Great wine cellar. A fun venue for a meal - a deux, with colleagues, friends or family.

Focacceria (Pizza/local snacks)

Posted by docblob 31 January 2011

Perfect little pizza place which also serves up local snack food but this is fast food that tastes out of this world.
I rode over from Zermatt for the day I found this place, desperate for food I went into the village to find substance at a reasonable rate. I walked past this super small shop which had a large queue I decided to find out why it was so busy ... after a 10 minute wait I was served the best pizza I have ever tasted. The only downside was it was so cheap I felt I was robbing them. I see why it was so busy.
Its not easy to find, and of course you have to take your board/ skis off to get to it, but trust me its worth it!

La Pizza del Born

Posted by CoolandBright 24 October 2010

In the heart of the trendy neighbourhood of El Born just minutes away from the chaos of Las Ramblas you will find this gem of a pizzeria run by a group of young friendly Argentinians.
The offering consists of a wide variety of delicious crusty deep base pizza by the slice made with quality ingredients. I recommend the pineapple and bacon and anchovy and tomato. They also have savoury tarts and empanadas. Each item costs a very reasonable €1.80.
If you feel like something sweet they have a range of typical Argentinian desserts that are worth a try.
The place is quite small, catering mainly to the locals and is usually always packed- a good thing since pizza is always fresh.
If the weather is obliging you can get take away and have it on one of stone benches outside.

Pizza Pane

Good solid pizzeria in Berlin. Very good value in nice surroundings.
Cost us €20 for a large margharita (that we customised with our shared starter) as well as drinks.
By the looks of it a very popular place.

Gusta Pizza

This place sells great pizza. All simple kinds of pizza, nothing fancy, but very well executed. Popular with locals and tourists alike, it's very busy. You can eat in or takeaway to a nice square near by - piazza santo spiritu.

Walk across the bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn, stay on the left path off the bridge, turn left and left again then right to get to Grimaldi's pizza place under the bridge. If you get there about 11.30, there'll be a queue, but only a shortish one. Queue, eat great pizza, pay in cash, walk to waterfront, eat ice-cream - fab way to spend a morning. Yes it's touristy but if you are a tourist in New York why not eh?

Lovely pizzas and friendly staff, on a well-patrolled street of secondhand bookshops and thrift stores - a rarity in the city. Cash only, so bring some with you, or go to the ATM up the street.

Pizzeria with a difference. Arrive early or late- it is very small and gets packed quickly. Delicious and cheap pizza by the slice in a great area for a few drinks, not far from the Nouveau Casino club and bars such as Le Café Charbon.

MauMa's Pizza

Posted by woolgatherer99 28 January 2010

Some of the greatest take away pizzas in Venice are to be found here at MauMa’s. The shop is just to the right, straight across the little bridge to the east of the Campo dei Frari (in front of the Frari Church).

It has no official sign – we only found out its real name after talking to the exceedingly friendly owners, Mauro and Massimo. Their English is limited but it’s possible to get by without having Italian.

It’s a tiny place with a shutter front which, when open, houses an appetizing display of bulging calzone and pizza slices. Calzone are around three Euros and pizzas start from four Euros.
Both are very generous; with a thin, crispy crust and delightfully herby and flavourful tomato sauce.

The place is tiny with no seating so everything is to take away. Buy a soda while Massimo prepares your pizza to order before your eyes; in the light summer months you could just take it across the bridge into the campo to enjoy.

There are no official business hours (whenever the guys feel like opening up!) but it’s usually open every day except Wednesdays.

Undoubtedly some of the best (and cheapest) pizza in Venice. I’ll definitely be going back next time I visit the city, as much to chat to the lovely owners as to sample the mouth-watering fare.

Pizzaface

Posted by MrBit 22 January 2010

I went here the other day and felt like I just had to post about it. It is a great little pizzeria / deli, but if you love great pizza you should really check it out. We had a pizza with wild boar (£8) which was delicious! I can't wait to get back to Brighton just to try out the rest of the menu. They have a great oven in there too.

Am not affiliated with either establishment, but heartily endorse the Nuthouse in Killester (very nice food, varied menu, v. friendly proprietor, good portions). And also the Sand Bar in Clontarf if you want a quality takeaway pizza (but hate pizza chains).

They're very different places, but both excel in their field.

Apizza Scholls

Posted by sammypdx 18 February 2009

This is a really great neighbourhood pizza place with the best dough and sauce in Portland. They only make a certain amount of dough every night and when it's gone they turn people away. These guys are serious about pizza - not only do they not deliver, they don't even allow you to call in and take out. Only warning, it can sometimes take up to an hour to get in... but, once you try this amazing pie, you forget all about the wait.

Pubs-wise, the Wellington Inn, Spring Bank Tavern, Black Boy, Ye Olde White Hart and Walters are all good for their real ale and atmospheres. Tourist-wise, The Deep is excellent and a walk around the old town area and museums is worth doing. The Ferens art gallery is pretty good and often has decent visiting exhibitions on. Food-wise the city centre is bit rubbish, but pizzas made by the crazy Italian bloke in the Trinity Market are cheap and filling.

Nearest station is Hull Interchange for buses and trains. The tourist website www.realyorkshire.co.uk has got a decent selection of ideas
