A bar and pizzeria next door to the Old Vic that stays open late into the night. Their links to the theatre are evident from all the autographed publicity mug shots of actors that hang from the walls and it's oddly enticing to pick out the celebs from these. Their oven knocks out superb thin crust pizzas throughout the night.

    Pizzeria Pappagone

Posted by Dommy 18 August 2006

Cheap and cheerful pizza and pasta restaurant on Stroud Green Road in Finsbury Park. Friendly people, massive pizzas and noisy as hell on weekend nights. Pizzas cost about seven quid. Avoid the horrible pub next door though.

    Bocacina

Posted by ourmaninbristol 17 August 2006

Deli cousin of across town Brasilian restaurant Bocanova. Good fresh coffee in the day, then during the evenings it sells extremely good pizzas with names like Zico, Bahia Picante and Carioca. Beleza.

    17's Bar

    Posted by Jimbo79 7 August 2006

This is one of many bars in the city centre with outside seating. The location is very pleasant and you can watch the world go by.
Best of all is the pizza ... you pay about £4 for a huge pizza, stone-baked and very nice. Good selection as well, and when you have finished that, the ice cream place next door is well worth a trip. If you are going to 17's at night, be aware that it is very popular with the stag parties, but it's OK for one or two of the cocktails, which are very well made.

    Pulcinella

Fab, cheap pizzas and good Italian eats in Soho on Old Compton Street. Then why not go for 'un caffe' italiano' afterwards at Bar Italia just over the road.

    Rocco's

Posted by ourmaninbristol 18 August 2006

Inimitable family-run Italian restaurant. Rocco & Gerarda do the business with their pasta and pizzas plus they make a lovely espresso to finish your meal with. It's relaxed, friendly and inexpensive.

    Gaspare's Pizza House

Posted by amscray 20 July 2006

If you are looking for a piece of real San Francisco - a place frequented by the few natives who can still afford to live in the city - this is it.

Gaspare's, formerly known as Vince's, has amazing pizza in a decidedly unpretentious, almost kitschy, atmosphere.

I grew up in this neighborhood and ate there often - devouring every bit of thin crusted, olive oil soaked, garlic permeated goodness. I recommend the "Bruce Special." I also recommend that you steer clear of anything but pizza.

    La Boca Pizzeria

Posted by ourmaninbristol 12 July 2006

Argentine-run neighbourhood pizzeria in among the seafood haunts of Barceloneta. Wander just beyond the market square in the evenings and be ushered in by a life-sized hoarding of Maradona in his Boca Juniors outfit. The Hand of God offers up not footballing controversy but an appetising looking pizza alla marinara.
