I'm old enough to remember going to seven Edinburgh Fringe shows in one day at 50p per show. Some were rubbish but who cared at 50p a ticket. Nowadays, choosing a show is a more serious activity with tickets costing an average of £7.

Never fear, checkout www.festivalpreviews.com. This website hosts video preview clips of the shows so that you can see for yourself whether you might like it. The site also has festival clips from Brighton, Adelaide, Avignon, Tokyo, etc etc.

I strongly recommend a little extra time when planning your transport time in the summer months. Most Swedes take all 5-6 weeks of vacation in one stint in July or August so buses and train schedules are greatly adjusted for what staff there are.

www.sl.se for the schedule and www.xpats.nu for other advice from the discussion forums frequented by English-speaking locals.

    Preparation is key

Posted by Adam Thornton 1 October 2007

Remain calm on the inside and savor the experience of Paris. But don't dawdle; time is precious and there is a lot to see, so enjoy planning your journey weeks in advance, not just by making a list on the train but read about the sights you will visit, their history and reason and how you will travel between them. So that when you finally see them for real, the experience will be all the richer and more enjoyable.

Try and be there after sunset; get away from the Gare du Nord; stroll in a park; seek things quintessentially Parisian.

Travellers to Argentina, BA, Iguazu Falls etc, especially first timers may benefit from some nice tips after their basic planning of their trip to Argentina or just some more info before deciding the schedule with a few travel forums. I recommend a visit to the ones posted below and that you post your questions for LE to answer them or just do some lurking through threads.
