    Finkley Down Farm Park

Posted by AndrewRH 12 April 2008

Finkley is, well, a farm and a park! There are lots of animals that you can feed, like llamas, ducks, geese, goats and, if you dare, bulls. Then there are the large play areas: a pedal cart track, old tractors to climb all over, a bunch of trampolines, a very large slide, a climbing fort or two and an infants' play area.

At regular times through the day there are feedings and handling sessions, for example, to sit and hold bunnies, and to groom the horses. There is a large collection of gypsy wagons to see, too.

There is a cafe on site with both indoor and outdoor seating. Just watch out for the roaming peacocks who like to steal your chips! Admission is reasonably priced for such a lot of things to do.

Photos and a description of our trips there can be found on our website: www.reeves-hall.net/kids-outings/finkley-down-farm-park/

    St Annes Park

Posted by ktopping 21 October 2007

Every time I go there I discover something new: open spaces, extensive rose gardens, cool playground, woods, streams, ponds, ruins, pitch'n'putt next door, nice coffee, small Saturday market.

North Dublin, next to Coast Road. Killester Dart station's probably the closest - about 5mins walk (but we usually drive or bus it - Coast Road has lots of buses)

    Ocean commotion

Posted by katiekettle 16 February 2007

I am 6 years old and I love ocean commotion. It is in a converted chapel and now is a brilliant place to play. There is a little slide for toddlers and much bigger and faster ones for older children. I can run around for an hour and I am very hot and sweaty afterwards. Mummy and daddy can have a cup of tea and then join in with us, if they want to. It is a great place for parties and I love it.

Val Adventure at Chateau de Val

Posted by Wojesty 29 December 2006

An adventure playground in the trees where you can spend up to 3 hours on rope bridges, cargo nets, death slides and even skateboards high above the ground. Choose your own level of difficulty, or just spend time in the cafe below watching others sway, wobble and teeter above you. Fantastic fun for all the family, and the Chateau de Val is well worth a visit on your return to terra firma.

Chateau de Val, Val, nr Bort-les-Orgues in Correze.

    Merrion Square

Posted by ktopping 2 August 2006

In my experience, it's usually nice & quiet - a lovely old fashioned city centre square. Slightly wild & overgrown - feels like a Lewis Carrol novel in places.
Nice secluded playground too for younger kids. Near the National Gallery which is also worth a visit (for both art and lunch!).

Merrion Square. Near Pearce St Dart. Lots of bus services. 2 minute walk from Stephen's Green, or Trinity College (East side).

    St Kilda Adventure Playground

Posted by misselke 2 February 2006

A play space for kids and adults. Hidden in the slightly dingy suburb of St Kilda is this crazy secret place full of climbing frames, trampolines, flying foxes and other contraptions to fire the imagination.

Off Robe Street, follow the signs, St Kilda

    Parsley Bay

Posted by huwt 5 November 2005

15 minutes east from the CBD, Parsley Bay feels like your own private harbour front park, complete with a sheltered beach spanned its own miniature timber suspension bridge. Walk under the sandstone cliffs out to the end of the fishermens jetty for a spectacular view of the harbour, and maybe the glimpse of a ray or squid swimming in the cystal clear water beside. At the kiosk grab a latte and a couple of paddle pops for the kids, and then try to extract them from flying fox and slipperydip at the recently rebuilt playground.
