    Mutiara Burau Bay

Posted by andyhad 19 August 2010

This is a private resort on the cheap! Some of the buildings need a bit of renovation, but the setting is fantastic - in forest, on a great private beach. I suspect that they'll spend some money refurbishing the place, then up the prices, but at the moment it's great value (but lower service, I'd think) compared to neighbouring resorts. Visit the restaurants at Perdana Quay for some great food - better than the hotel restaurant.

    Kilwa Seaview Resort

    Posted by york137 24 September 2008

Just outside the 'centre' of Kilwa Masoko (ie. a 10-15 minute walk), this collection of ensuite chalets sits in grounds on a headland with amazing views over the sandy bay of Kilwa Masoko and towards Kilwa Kisiwani island.

The resort is very professionally managed and keen to make visitors welcome. Activities organised by the resort - tours, diving, etc - seem very well organised and reasonably priced. There is a special path from the resort down to the beach. The restaurant is recommended, too.

Hire a car and drive there - it's amazing. Plus condos in Largo are cheap because there are so many.

    Vinpearl Resort in Vietnam

Posted by Smakat 5 March 2008

The Vinpearl Land, located on white sandy beaches of Hon Tre Island, is just 10 minutes by sea cruise to the luxurious five-star resort, off the South East Coast of the cultural and historic township of Nha Trang, Vietnam.

It is wonderful for families or young couples on a romantic holiday. Outstanding customer service, very clean and beautiful public areas and rooms, excellent food at reasonable prices, largest swimming pool in Vietnam, beautiful beach (but watch out for floating garbage), an adequate business centre, next to an amusement park good for young children, and a decent spa and beauty salon.

    Carmarthen Bay Holiday Park

    Posted by SteveS123 11 January 2008

For a young family, Carmarthen Bay Holiday Park was a wise choice. As soon as we arrived our two boys were happily entertained. With a staffed swimming pool and organised cycling trips, amongst other sports, we were free to relax and wind-down just as we had hoped.

    The Queen Ada Hotel

Posted by TimmyD 16 February 2007

This resort is actually in Torba, a short dolmus ride away from Bodrum. It was modern, full-service, pleasant, but smaller and much quieter and nicer than all the hyper-resorts.

    Matemwe Beach Village

    Posted by pollyanna99 11 December 2006

A relaxed beach resort on the stunning Matemwe Beach, which is affordable if you don't want to go all out for the top of the range Matemwe Beach Bungalows. Rooms are on the small side but at $200 a night including dinner, the four beautiful suites are good value. There is fabulous diving and snorkelling to be had on the nearby Mnemba Atoll and the on-site dive centre organises daily trips.

Staff are lovely and friendly, and the food is excellent. The local village is extremely poor, however, and the lodge could do a little more in terms of development work.

    The Beach Garden Resort

    Posted by andyran98 10 February 2006

A wonderful restaurant and hotel set right on the beautiful golden sands of Pantai Cenang. The food is delicious with a great fusion of Asian and European tastes. The cocktails are fantastic. I especially recommend the jug of frozen Margharita. Perfect to watch the sun go down. This place is so beautiful, afterwards I strolled out to the beach with my girlfriend and proposed to her. We are getting married in Malaysia this year!

    Argentiere

Posted by powderhound 28 October 2005

Argentiere is a village 5 miles outside Chamonix and is it is where the main ski area of the resort is based. I would suggest staying up in the village of Argentiere and being within walking distance of the Grands Montets which offers awesome skiing.

    Les Houches

Posted by ewanwallace 17 October 2005

A 10-minute drive down the valley from Chamonix, the resort’s more sheltered location means it often stays open when the rest of the valley's resorts are closed due to high winds. It's also mostly within the tree line, making it the perfect choice for flat light days.
