Crizia is a palatial restaurant in downtown Buenos Aires (according to the waiter, the building used to be a bank). It's trendy, with slick decor, a very good DJ, plenty of BA's beautiful young things as fellow diners - but the food (Mediterranean and Sushi as well as the ubiquitous slab of Argentinian cow) is absolutely top notch with wines to match. The Chocolate Por Serena dessert is a must for chocolaholics.
Foodies who prefer fish should head for Coyar de Buitres in Palermo Viejo - the salmon teriyaki was nigh on perfect the other night.

It's a brilliant restaurant serving an all-you-can-eat buffet and parillada (BBQ). The deserts are amazing too - so save some room. Extremely popular throughout the day because it's such good value. In the evenings, be prepared to queue.

When in Brussels, this place is not to be missed for three reasons:
1.The museum is located in one of the most stunning art nouveau buildings in Europe, built by master architect Paul Santenoy.
2. It houses one of the best collections of musical instruments you will ever see, with over 6000 pieces.
3. The top-floor bar and restaurant offer good food in a very stylish décor, where you can relax for a few hours or entertain friends.
Bonus: the stunning views over central Brussels. There is an open-air roof terrace in summer.

A great restaurant with a good buzz almost every evening. It's not the most comfortable, but the quality of the food and service more than makes up for it. 101 Talbot is unusual for an Irish restaurant in that the veggie and vegan options are often better than the meat dishes. Probably the best place for your pre-theatre meal if you are going to the Abbey or Gate.

If you're ever fortunate enough to visit the exciting city of Madrid during the hot summer months, you might welcome a bit of respite from museums, galleries and shopping. A great way to sample a slice of local life and cool off is to visit the Instalación Deportiva Municipal swimming complex in the endless Casa de Campo. For 3.8 euros or 2.15 euros for under 16s, you'll have the use of an Olympic sized pool, a smaller pool and a childs pool. There are plenty of shady areas for relaxing and a cafeteria on site and you won't hear an English word spoken! The El Lago Metro station stops right outside the entrance. Having worked up an appetite, you will find a great choice of restaurants just outside the complex under shady trees overlooking Lago lake.

A typical "bolognese" restaurant in which to eat well, big quantity of food, spending very few. Also, Fantoni is located in a very nice pedestrian street full of "osterie" (the pubs typical of the area of Bologna, in which you can both drink both eat good dishes).

The Indian Express in Hampton St, Hampton (bayside Melbourne) provides all that. There is virtually no room to eat in (it is a takeaway after all) but the queues for the takeaway say it all. People come from surrounding suburbs for their fill of Indian... it is that good!

Our local Italian... and we are proud of it. It is somewhere we can walk on a Saturday night... with a bottle of red and enjoy a meal. (It's fully licensed or you can bring your own). Families love it because kids are well catered for here.
It is noisy and buzzy but down the back away from the large Pizza oven it is quieter. The waiting staff are very much at home dealing with us locals (even their guest Canadian waiter is no longer homesick)... Great southern Italian cooking here !

Dining in Grossi Florentino's Tuscan mural room shows that special-occasion dining in Melbourne is alive and well. The dining room has high, decorated plaster ceilings, chandeliers, dark wood panelling and the murals. Service is a delight from the black dressed waiters with their long white aprons.
Guy Grossi's menu whatever the season is magnificient... and in our case we walked away with a copy of the book on the restaurant... autographed by Guy Grossi himself.
All in all, a memorable dining experience.
And a final note - all this from an establishment that has been there since the early 1900s, which makes it even more amazing!

Superb, coffee house, come bar, come restaurant. It reminds you of a smaller version of the municipal house cafe in Prague. The decoration is opulent and the place is very sophisticated. If you can get a seat in the window it's a great place to people watch, whilst relaxing over a coffee and Jack Daniels as it looks out over the Livu Laukums square, which in winter has an outdoor ice rink, which adds to the ambience.

This genuine 1950s coffee house has played host to Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon in its time, and it retains an artistic, bohemian buzz to this day.
The food is excellent, the atmosphere agreeably relaxed and the club beneath it has a huge range of comedy nights, poetry readings and live music. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is set right in the centre of St James Park, basically, the Queen's back garden. Superb views in both winter and summer - patio heaters all round so you can still sit outside with a hot chocolate when there's frost on the ground. Great food! Book in advance as it can sometimes get really busy.
Serves up only home-grown UK produce, can thoroughly recommend the duck, lamb and pork, really cooked superbly and the waiting staff add to the experience. For two people eating three courses and wine, you can expect a £100 bill but if you've had a good week in the office, well worth entertaining a loved one.
Nearest tube is St James Park but you can still reach it from both Charing Cross & Embankment (short walk).

One of Paul Rankin's group of Belfast restaurants, this place had excellent food, really friendly staff and was very reasonably priced. Not much vegetarian food to choose from but a fine choice for carnivores.

A great Turkish restaurant with lots of atmosphere. Always busy and buzzing and perfect for a party or a date, or dinner with friends. The food is very reasonably priced and there are some delicious vegetarian dishes (don't miss the moussaka). If Gallipoli is full, try along the street at Cafe Gallipoli, or Gallipoli Again (yes, there's 3 of them!).

Go to the Museum absorb some modern Czech Art & Culture, then if the sun is shining eat at Restaurant belonging to the museum, The Sovovy Mlyny. Sit on the terrace, have a long leisurely lunch. Enjoy beautiful views of The Vltava and Charles Bridge. Listen to the Wier. Don’t let the cold put you off. They bring blankets!

Only a few minutes from Rialto Bridge it must be hard to find better value in this area. A garden that must be lovely in sunny weather and a very lively trattoria. On a damp Sunday the very friendly staff were almost overwhelmed with diners but kept it all going well. Quite a wide choice of pizzas (all around 8 Euros) and an extremely good value for money set lunch for either 14 or 16 Euros. It's all the traditional courses that you would expect (spaghetti al ragu, brescaiola, spaghetti with mussels and clams, squid) but each course cooked well and very tasty. Half a litre of good wine for 8 Euros. Unhesitatingly recommended - and as almost always in Venice restaurants, perfect for children too.

An ace restaurant serving traditional Czech grub, U Seturu has a lovely cosy cellar feel about it with some brilliant black and white photographs of the city on the walls. The Goulash in particular is some of the est you'll find anywhere, and the best thing about it is the price: around 200 K per person for a slap up nosh and a glass of beer. They also have an even cheaper (and no less delicious) lunch menu.
Address: Palackeho 2, a little road running between the main streets of Jungmannova and Vodickova in the New Town (Nove Mesto). It is next door to a hotel. There is a tram stop where these two roads meet. Nearest station is Mustek.
Modern pub with good food. Same group as owns Kolkovna, but much better. It has to try harder with a local clientele.

Beer is back. Like many places micro-breweries and new imports are hot. For an all-round beer/food evening, try the excellent Nørrebro Bryghus (Brewery House) who embrace hops like their own children and serve up appropriate grub.
