The best way to keep up with many events in the capital of China is to sign up for the weekly newsletter of the expatriate magazine, The Beijinger. This will keep you informed of the latest gigs, shows,
club news, restaurants, etc. And of course, pick up this expat magazine when you are in town. Most foreign
related hangouts stock it and it is free. Also available free of charge is Time Out Beijing.
My favourite place to visit for alternative music is D22 in the university district. If you want to sample the rock bands of the city, it is one of the best places to visit.
A rock club, recommended simply because I had one of the most amusing nights out ever there. A good bit of old school rock and what must be Munich's most colourful clientele. Another 'has to be seen to be believed'.

Great beer and great music. Constantly rotating guest ales. The DJ plays rock and indie from Johnny Cash to Metallica. Very entertaining and freindly.

Go to Texas, the most famous rock club in Athens. Plays classic rock and metal every night until morning. Often frequented by bands such as Motorhead after they've played in the city. If you like Texas you can also try nearby Revenge of Rock.
Texas is on Ippokratous Street in the bohemian area of Exarhia. Revenge of Rock is on Leofourous Alexandras, also in Exarhia. Exarhia is central Athens – a 10 minute walk from Ommonia square or take a cab (most taxi drivers will know these clubs)
