Ahorn-Oase (Maple Oasis)

Posted by coestours 5 September 2010

Genuinely an oasis in Konstanz! A great location close to the city centre, railway station and of course, the lake! Really lovely city to be explored, and very good food and other shops nearby. The Purperea apartment is well furnished and comfortable, and the roof terrace is a quiet retreat from the bustle on the surrounding streets. A brilliant base to explore the Bodensee (Lake Constance) area, with too many places to see in one visit around the lake shore in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Only an hour by train from Zurich Airport.

Pueblo Ircosol is a great place to stay. We had a one bedroom air-conditioned apartment in a gated community with swimming pool and paddle tennis. The apartment was clean and modern and came with satellite TV.

We enjoyed the beautiful mountain views as we ate our breakfast each morning. After that we headed straight to the beach, which was only a 10-minute walk away. For lunch, we either went back to the apartment or ate at one of the local tapas bars. For dinner, we often bought food to cook at home.

Stayed at one of two lovely "modern Habsburg" studios with ViennaFlatSeven over Easter. I really enjoyed the warm reception, and the Neubau neighbourhood, especially the cafes, and the apartment was of fantastic quality and not full of cheap Ikea like much of the rest.
I'm already planning my return to Vienna, for more of the excellent antiques markets!
From €90 a night.

The House in Ludlow

Posted by robhuntley 7 February 2010

This is a really lovely self catering holiday cottage right in the centre of town. Our two families (eight of us in all) stayed there last September and had a great weekend. Nice bedrooms, lovely kitchen and dining room and lots of toys and games for the kids. Walking distance to all the great food shops, restaurants and pubs that Ludlow has to offer. The sun shone and we ate in the lovely garden and put on about a stone between us!

Tansas, Migro and Kipa

Posted by MsRosie 11 January 2010

Three good supermarkets, with Kipa being the largest but not necessarily the best. All three are open all day every day and Kipa is open 24 hours which is useful if you have an out-of-hours flight and you want to buy enough food to stock the fridge in your self-catering accommodation.

Kipa is on the main Bodrum highway, the others have several branches along main roads in most towns.

Behind the Tower apartment

Posted by JulsBlanc 9 January 2010

We rented this one bedroom apartment for a week and we really enjoyed our stay. The apartment has clearly been recently renovated, it was very clean and well-equipped. The location is extremely convenient for visiting the city and exploring some other cities in the area, like Lucca and Florence. There is a supermarket right around the corner, and plenty of bars and restaurants. The owners were very helpful and even came to pick us up at the airport, which saved us quite some money and hassle, as we arrived quite late in the day. They left guidebooks and brochures for us and a nice bottle of wine, pasta and meat sauce for our first dinner. That was a nice touch, because it was too late to go buy some groceries.

Pillowapartments Barcelona

Posted by Tymsynan 31 December 2009

I rented an apartment this Christmas using Pillowapartments Barcelona
Check in staff were gracious and accomodating with good directions for travellers not renting a car.
Apartment appeared just as pictured. Size of apartment was cozy, but was large enough for four people to sleep, if living room couch is let out. It was centrally located to Super Mercardo, beach, wharf, mall, and restaurants and well stocked. Really appreciated having washer/dryer unit in apartment. Colorful mix of restaurants, markets right in neighborhood.
Came on a Barcelona holiday and watched city party all day until early morning. Loved the late sunset and meet some really entertaining people. Loved the ice cream/gelato shops on every other corner. Also, loved the Cafe de Lecha and Tortilla Patata (egg omelet with potato) for breakfast and the bakeries.
Public transportation was excellent!
Easy walk to train station and wonderful city park/zoo. A little further walk to the shopping district of La Rambla and Gothic area. Recommend to take the city tour bus, excellent sites, plenty of museums and information.
Would have been nice to have an English speaking television channel, however took it as an opportunity to learn more Spanish.

Cortinhas

Posted by sasuraibito 28 September 2009

A beautiful cottage retreat to relax in near the Alentejo coast two hours south of Lisbon. You could spend the whole week reading books in the garden, enjoy the views and the wildlife on nearby walks or horse rides or go to the local beaches- popular with the Portugese over the summer, but otherwise you'll probably have them to yourself.

The Taylors are great hosts and will help introduce you to this beautiful part of Portugal having lived in Cortinhas for over 20 years.

Apartment rentals BHR in Rome

Posted by italy81 26 September 2009

Offering of short term apartment rentals in Rome is enormous. Many apartments can be booked directly other by rental agencies. I recommend like Mid-range apartments "BHR" distrct "Tiburtina": near underground B "Monti Tiburtini" street "Via dei Durantini"; good choice, not far from the city centre and "Tiburtina Station and Termini station", the price of accommodations varies from month to month and amount of tourists.

istanbulplace.com apartments

Beautiful self-catering apartments in central Istanbul. We stayed for three nights in Galata Place apartment with our three children. The apartment was fantastic, newly renovated in a beautiful old building. The location, at the foot of the Galata Tower, was ideal for sightseeing and near restaurants, supermarkets etc. Really helpful owners, who have another couple of apartments in Istanbul. If we ever get back, this is where we'll be staying.

Bernini Apartment

Posted by MarijekeV 6 September 2009

Keeping with our summer vacation rental trend, I also found another great deal in the heart of Rome's historic centre. We had some friends joining us from the States that particular week, so the two bedrooms worked out perfectly, seeing as at E1200/week, we basically ended up paying only slightly more than a quadruple room in a B&B... with our own privacy of course, freedom, peace of mind, and the kitchen was lovely too. We love to cook and it was about 5 minutes from Campo de'Fiori's market, so every day we got to enjoy fresh ingredients and try some of the tricks we learned in our very own cooking lesson booked through the agency (they found a WONDERFUL chef who speaks perfect English and was loads of fun)!

The apartment was beautiful, very artistic and luxurious, and the jacuzzi tub was a definite plus. As mentioned, the agency was fabulous and took care of everything for us, the keyholder was a very nice lady who helped us get our bearings, and the private transfer they booked for our friends went smoothly as well. The location, especially for the price, couldn't have possibly been better, and it made returning to Rome the adventure we'd hoped it to be. We definitely plan to use Leisure in Rome on our next trip to Rome, and we hope they still have the same great deals on Bernini!

Nant Y Croi Farm - Camping

Posted by Twink 31 August 2009

Nant Y Croi Farm is a delightful working farm, perched on the cliffs near Ferwig and a short walk to the excellent Mwnt Beach, Cardigan. Not only is the location breath taking, it is run by Gordon and Mary Thomas who are nothing short of lovely and excellent hosts. They run a camping, B&B and self-catering business.

3 urbanites from London, we went for the option of roughing it in a tent. Hot showers, toilets are in the field (so not that rough) and up at the farmhouse, fridge & freezers, a sink to wash up are available for free (washing machines too at a small cost) you can even order some local meat to BBQ, and borrow a BBQ too if you came as badly prepared as we did.

You are made to feel very welcome by Gordon who does the rounds of the site on his quad bike, ensuring you have all you need for; local info and some quality banter thrown in to boot. It was an incredibly relaxed weekend. Nothing is too much trouble, we arrived at a 2am after a long drive from London, which wasn't a problem at all, we could arrive when we wanted to & pitch where we wanted to. On waking up the next morning we were welcomed by a stupendous view of the sea over the hedge at the bottom of the field.

It is a family orientated place too, with donkeys to entertain the kids. The simplicity, friendliness of the hosts and out-standing natural beauty makes this a rather special place to stay which I would recommend to anyone. There is the quaint town of Cardingan nearby, and the lovely beaches, Mwnt, Tresaith, Penbryn, to name a small handful. Most cars had not only the odd child strapped to the roof, but bikes, kayaks, kites etc...the area is for the outward bound and there is no end of sport available on dry land and the sea to keep you entertained and exhausted all weekend.

So, if you are looking for an un-commercial site, with the basics, views that money can't buy and splendid hospitality in an uncrowded field, look no further than Nan Y Croi Farm.

Normally I stick with hotels but I've heard really great things about apartment rentals and so maybe a year or so ago decided to try them too. Obviously there is no reception desk, concierge you can pester with your every query, and though apartments come stocked with all one needs, you do need to buy your own supplies (hand soap, shampoo, toilet paper - at least if you need more than three rolls for a week).

Still, apartments are often just as central, lovely, and as well managed and stocked as hotels with the added benefit of complete privacy which I find extremely attractive.

Besides that, I find (now that I frequent rentals more), apartment keyholders are usually bi- or trilingual and very helpful at explaining all in the area/apartment, which is definitely a higher degree of service than one gets checking into the average B&B/hotel.

Anyway, Bellotto was the right place at the right time, enhanced by the fact the agency responded quickly (normally these things take like 2-3 days if you're not using a major agency like Venere, but I like the personal attention to be honest), and in English, since my Italian is functional but very sad when written.

For two people this studio was absolutely perfect. It's a 10 minute walk from St. Peter's and a 10 minute bus ride from Piazza Navona, and buses come every 10 minutes or so. Walking is only half an hour anyway. The kitchenette is perfect for simple things because I don't really need an oven on holiday and everything important is there, and we were on the top floor, with an elevator, which I know is quite difficult to find on a budget in the absolute historic centre. I actually liked this neighbourhood better since it's more the way real locals live, the prices they pay, bus service is frequent, and the peace and quiet simply can't be beat. Nor can the lovely little balcony, which is totally secluded and private, so it's a wonderfully peaceful place. I also like the bright colours in the studio, uniqueness is always welcome!

The agency who booked us was fabulous and helpful, and I was glad to see they work with such wonderfully responsible owners who are soooooo very helpful. They live across the hall and the top floor is private, just their apartment and ours, and the floor itself is only accessed by a key, so it's very very secure and no worries about thieving maids or people in general. Perfect, lovely, and convenient, this apartment is amazing for any single person or couple that wants some unforgettable time in the Eternal City.

The site I booked through: www.leisureinrome.com/_apartments_in_rome-in-san_pietro/vatican_apartment,S,435.html

The owners deal directly with them and so the service is 5 star at a normal price!

Allori Apartment

Posted by Peacefrog110 17 August 2009

I used to be a straight three-star hotel/B&B fanatic as I'm always on a budget, but a friend turned me onto vacation rental apartments, and I must say for what lodgings in Rome cost these days, this was a REAL find. For around €120/night, which is a full €40 less than a B&B in the same location quoted during high season, and apartments give one so much more freedom and space.

This one in particular was absolutely gorgeous and had a really cool mod vibe, that was a nice switch from all the history outside. With 2 bdr, 2 bth, a kitchenette, net access, and a nice little courtyard out front, it was perfect for us, and only a minute from Campo de'Fiori!

The best part aside from the decor and freedom was the fact we could go out and party all night, but not have to deal with the noise of the general piazza. Plus the booking people and keyholder spoke perfect English and that definitely helped.

Everywhere in Rome is walkable from this location, and there are a lot of buses too, plus the tram to the Trastevere station. I really hope to stay there again.

I use Prague-Stay.com when visitors come to Prague. The agents are really professional and friendly, the apartments are cool, located in the center and are much more reasonable than a hotel. One friend of mine stayed at the Franciscan Garden Apartments and his apartment was just amazing-it was all windows and had awesome views of Old Town and this massive Gothic church. I really suggest you have a look at their selection of apartments.

Escape from the hustle of Athens and stay in the village of Amaliapolis for a few days. You won’t find many foreign tourists there, but its fish tavernas serve the freshest fish priced for local holiday makers (no tourist rip off prices here). If you want an even cheaper, but delicious, meal have a ‘souvlaki pitta’ – succulent pieces of lamb wrapped in special pita bread with salad and yoghurt sauce – under €2.

We stayed in a very reasonably priced apartment – plainly furnished but with great views of the twinkling lights of the Pelion villages across the Pagasitic Gulf at night and just short walk to the sandy beach in the morning. Just don’t tell too many people or it could get spoilt!
