This was a great place to stay; a relaxed surf lodge directly on the beach. Good break right outside on the beach down a small set of steps.
Accommodation is with or without A/C for around $15 a night or less if sharing. The people were great, and Jorge the main man, was really friendly and helpful.
It is possible to hire boards there, and has its own restaurant with good local food.
This is at the town of El Zonte on the Pacific coast of El Salvador, just past the 54km marker on the Carretera del Littoral Highway 2. Go over the river if coming from direction La Libertad and take the first left, then Ola's is one of the last on the right at the end of the road.
Spending a few impromptu September days in this relatively remote surf spot has to be one of my most memorable travel experiences.
Precariously strapping two surfboards to the roof of a taxi, driving some distance south of Essaouira and asking the driver to pick us up in a couple of days (and he showed up on time!) was a true adventure.
The surf was choppy with strong undercurrents, but we had the beach and dunes literally to ourselves. Keep a keen eye out for each other if you attempt this because there are no lifeguards!
We stayed on the "campsite" - a patch of stony ground with trees for cover and a tap. Sidi Kauki doesn't have much by way of facilities, but eating delicious tagine in a hut by the beach was a simple pleasure.
20km south of Essaouira
1. Facing west, it has the most beautiful sunsets framed by the steep Welsh red earth cliffs
2. The surf that rolls in is perfect. It's sheltered from the north winds so you can get good glassy waves that you can ride forever as the beach incline is so gradual
3. It's clean; the water is clear and full of fish and plenty of rock pools to explore
Based about one hour from Lisbon and 30 metres from the beach, this establishment offers everything from accommodation, camps, rentals, tours, surf-lessons and much more in Europe’s most consistent surf zone.

This beach is just outside the main central street of Pipa and it is beautiful. The surf is amazing, the people are stunning and there is even a chance of seeing dolphins!
You can hitchhike to get there or jump on one of the minibuses that pass regularly.
An outstanding memory from our trip to Australia was the view from the deck of our cruise ship, the Coral Princess, as she sailed south down the edge of the outer Great Barrier Reef with a line of white surf stretching in either direction as far as the eye could see, where the deep ocean waters break on the continental shelf.
Every now and again the surface was broken by a flying fish skittering across the waves.
