    View from the cathedral

Posted by tangledupinblue 23 February 2006

The view from the bell tower of the cathedral is awe-inspiring. You can see the entire city, which is not very big, and the surrounding hills and mountains against the backdrop of the permanently clear blue sky. It really makes you feel like you are 4070 metres above sea level!

    Belem

Posted by sladescross 11 November 2005

There are three fantastic sights in this area - Torre de Belem, Monument to the Discoveries and for me the best was Mosteiro dos Jeronimos.

Get the 15 tram from Praca de Figueira and get off after Mosteiro dos Jeronimos. You need to walk up aways and take the footbridge over the road to get to the Torre de Belem, and the Monument to the Discoveries.

    Sunset from La Tour Montparnasse

Posted by eleanorb 17 October 2005

With 59 floors the only skyscraper in Paris: easily the best view because, as they say, it is the only place in Paris from which you do not have to look at the Tour Montparnasse! Lift takes you to the 56th floor with photo exhibition then stairs up to the top. Panoramic view, and the sun sets behind the Eiffel Tower which sparkles for the first ten minutes of each hour.
