One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in, vegetarian or otherwise. They now also have a few bedrooms upstairs
Walk west about three minutes along Washington St. from the city centre, and it's on your right.

This is a really unusual little restaurant, attached to a health spa (but with its own entrance). The menu is vegetarian with multiple Eastern and European influences and some really unusual but very tasty dishes. Lunch is also good. Mid price. In the summer you can sit outside by a quiet private branch off Birmingham's canal network. Book in advance at peak times as the restaurant isn't huge.
Canal Square, Browning Street, Birmingham, B16 8EH (best approached on foot from Sheepcote Street - there is a driveway to apartments off the west side of the street which leads to a footbridge over the canal, the restaurant is on the right). www.bodyandbeing.co.uk/sibilasnew/index.html +44(0)121 456 7634. About 1/2 mile from Five Ways station.
Not just for vegetarians but anyone who likes genuine curry. It's a downbeat small place but great food. They spice the food up to your liking.
In the centre of Thamel district amongst all the tourist shops. Next to ABC Trekking/Baniya travel.
Chinese (Taiwanese actually) vegetarian restaurant with daily two course lunch menu for $2. Fresh and tasty. Lunch includes a drink of either fresh juice, yoghurt or soya milk. Only place I know of serving soya milk.
Gran Colombia 1-89 y Capulies. One block before Avenida de las Americas coming from centro.
Montreal vegetarian restaurant - a vast, imaginative & varied selection of soups, salads & hot dishes all based on fresh & tasty ingredients.
Self service from buffet, sold by weight. I paid only 10 CDN for a massive & delicious plateful.

A no-frills vegetarian restaurant situated in the Old Town. There are usually only a couple of choices but the food is always delicious and plentiful, Vegan friendly too. Free bread and coffee are provided, they are fine about you bringing your own drink (alcoholic or not). Meals work out at about a fiver a head which is very cheap for Stockholm.

This is a vegetarian restaurant near Sally Lunns. I am not a 'veggie' but was so impressed by the meal we ate that I bought the recipe book!
Friendly atmosphere, welcoming staff and great cooking makes this restaurant well worth a visit.

Take a drive down to Manhattan Beach. Enjoy the pier and beach, but do not miss out on this fantastic restaurant. It's clean, inexpensive, friendly, with utterly delicious food. They have many tasty dishes suitable for vegetarians (but not vegans), as well as the standard Mexican fare very well prepared. I lived in L.A. for many years and ate there regularly.

This great vegetarian restaurant has been running in Totnes for at least 20 years. It has a warm relaxed atmosphere with some communal tables. In the back, there is a pretty garden and a children's area. There is a great selection of organic, seasonal food, including a large variety of casseroles, quiches, soups and salads at lunch time. There's also wonderful choice of gâteaux, wheat-free munchies and yummy puddings, plus fair trade coffees, teas and a good variety of organic beers and wines. The Willow is open from 10am until 5pm and again in the evening. Wednesday night is curry night (very authentic) and Fridays is live music.

Tooting is curry heaven and Kastoori is its nirvana. The restaurant is run by the Thanki family (from Gujarat via Uganda). For vegetarians, like us, this is the best of all restaurants. Start the meal with delicate, filled puris, follow up with marsala dosa (filled super-thin pancakes) served with spicy sambar. Mr Thanki and his staff will help you choose your meal. This ensures that you do not over-order, which is easy to do. Finish off with kulfis (Indian ice cream) and the final surprise of a modest bill for such a wonderful feast.

After years of experimenting all over town with other Asian restaurants, this is the restaurant our 'swimming club' has settled on. Fusion may be pushing it slightly (trendy lilac and silver interior) but the food is vastly more modern than most Asian restaurants and we have had puy lentils as dhal. Superb. Fish tikka with chilli sauce like a salsa and the kahari bindi gost (lamb and okra) are a couple of favourites. Excellent vegetarian dishes. The portions are huge and often there is an extra dish to try. No lurid colours, plenty of spice and garlic. The owner has said he would like to do proper Pakistani food and we would like to see a specials board.

Rani serves the most wonderful Gujarati vegetarian cuisine and prides itself on making all the items on the menu. The owner is invariably on hand to welcome you into the warm and friendly environment. Waiting staff are knowledgeable, attentive and, if needed, will help you work your way to making the difficult decision as to what to choose from such an extensive, well-priced menu. If this is too difficult, they have a yummy range of set menus, or go on Sunday when it is buffet lunch. They are child-friendly, too!

A self-proclaimed 'eating and drinking palace', Trof is a miscellaneously decorated bar and eatery in the heart of Fallowfield. The staff and guests are sometimes a little too cool for school, and sometimes seem to care more about the playlist than the customer, but the hearty food is a winner - including the best vegetarian breakfast in Manchester. A recent enlargement means the upstairs area features live music - DJ sets, live bands and open mic - virtually every night.

Vegetarian cafe with limited but delicious homecooked choice of lasagne, salads, chili. Large portions, small prices and a relaxing atmosphere. No alcohol. Largely undiscovered but it's been around for years.
On the side road between Mountpleasant and Renshaw Street.
Amazing views, incredible food and great hospitality - we ate at the villa 5 of the 7 nights we stayed, loved the antipasta and David's deserts were fabulous. In fact my partner is a vegetarian and the menu was better than most restaurants. Had the most relaxing holiday, in fact we were chilled out within half an hour of arriving. This region of the Marche is still relatively undiscovered and long may it stay that way. Prices for eating out are unbelievable - 3 course meals around 35 euro and great local wines as well.
Villa Sibillini's bed and breakfast rates are just 85 euro a night and the breakfasts are a delight, fresh fruits and many home-made jams.
Couldn't praise it enough, Pam and David have just the right touch - friendly and welcoming, it was like staying with friends. Will certainly be back.

The only south Indian restaurant in Glasgow (most Indian restaurants do northern cuisine) and the food is amazing, offering authentic, well-prepared, tasty dishes not tried before.
Rice is combined with lentils to make wonderful dosas, idlis, vadas and uttapams. They are combined with sambhar (dal), rasam (tamarind dal), dry and curried vegetable and pachadi (yoghurt). Also cater brilliantly for vegetarians.

Tapa is a cafe/delicatessen that only sells organic and vegetarian products. They bake their own bread, which tastes fantastic: being Italian my family is very picky about bread, but Tapa's bread never let us down. Interestingly, they mostly use local-sourced rye to bake bread.
They also do very good organic fairtrade coffee, and their own soups, ciabbattas, sandwiches and, mostly recommended, cakes.
Staff are very friendly and nice. You can dine inside, or even outside on the pavement, weather permitting. The cafe has a very "east-side" unpretentious look, but the quality on offer is not matched by more pretentious cafes in the city centre - so it is worth visiting Dennistoun on the east side to eat at Tapa.
