The Rheinfalls is the largest waterfall in Europe. Located about 1/2 hour by car and under 1 hour by train from Zurich, they are a great day trip when you are visiting this pretty city. What is particularly interesting is how close you can get to the falls. There is a platform extending out over the water so that you can feel the power of the water as it rushes beneath you. If you still have not had enough, you can take a boat excursion right to the foot of the falls and even disembark and climb stairs to the top of a huge rock that is sitting squarely in the middle of the falls. For the less adventurous, there is a nice cafe that is well positioned so that you can enjoy watching the others while you stay warm inside.

This Benedictine Monk retreat makes for an amazing break from the bustle of Barcelona. You can get a combined ticket from the station which includes the cable car.
The views from the top are stunning. Inside you can visit the Holy Grotto and listen to the world renowned Montserrat Boys Choir. Time your visit so you are there before 13:00 when the choir sing.

Very interesting to walk up and down the Strip to look at all the hotels and their themes.
For the adrenaline junkies, try the rollercoasters at New York-New York and on top of the Stratosphere Tower.
The food is great - especially the all-you-can-eat buffets.
If you want to see the most wonderful scenery in America, then I suggest you take a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. The feeling you get from hovering above the canyon is quite amazing.
During a holiday to Las Vegas with my husband we were able to witness a storm which passed across the canyon. To stand there and watch the forks of lightning crossing the sky was quite magical, especially when you're standing in hot sunshine on the other side.
For the more romantic of you, there is an option to actually land in the canyon and have lunch over looking the truly wonderful scenery.
During the flight back you fly over the strip which is lit up in all its glory. All I can say is "wow". This has to be one of those trips you certainly have to make in your lifetime.
You can get a trip to the canyon from most tourist shops along the strip, or your hotel will have information.
Whether you choose to simply have a drink in the bar or enjoy dinner, this is an absolutely breathtaking option. The highest structure in the US, west of the Rockies, you will never tire of the view as the restaurant revolves 360 degrees during your dinner. Don't be put off by the location of the Statosphere at the end of the Strip - get a cab - don't walk as it looks deceptively close. The Stratosphere itself is a low budget hotel and you may feel dubious on your way to the restaurant, but don't be put off - the ambience in the restaurant does not reflect the rest of the establishment.

A nicely designed bar with a beautiful view on the ocean. Cocktails, different kind of beers and good personnel makes this bar the best one in Cumbuco.
In the main street in the centre where you find most of the restaurants.
Overnight trains are fun, but this one comes with the added bonus of a brilliant view between Da Nang and Hue (on the right hand side of the train going north).
We paid 450,000 dong (about $30) each for a top bunk berth in a four-bed carriage. Lower bunks are more expensive, but probably nicer for views and storage space.
The train comes all the way from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. If you are getting on half way then you may need to strip the bed of its old linen and ask the not very helpful guards for 2 new sheets.
Food is included, but not particularly nice (cabbage and mackerel stew on boiled rice anyone?). Vendors follow the official trolley selling much nicer fare.
There are several trains a day. We caught the 14h15 from Da Nang so that we'd get the coastal views up to Hue. Everyone seemed to bunk down and sleep by about 20h30 so arriving in Hanoi at 04h30 did not seem too traumatic! And then you are just in time to dump your luggage and join the early morning crowds at Hoan Kiem lake.
Buy tickets in advance from the train station (not sure if you can buy from a station other than your departure one- tried to find out and failed). The earlier you buy the better as tickets do sell out.
A gorgeous bar on the 22nd floor of the Reval Hotel, situated by the Europa Tower. Awesome cocktails and a stunning view over the whole of Vilnius. If this were in London it would cost a fortune. Only open from 1600 every day.

Serving seafood, steaks and a selection of various dishes using local produce including many vegetarian options.
She also has a tearoom for light snacks and afternoon tea with a beautiful view of Glanmore Lake. Well worth a visit to check out the stunning scenery and a good spot for walks.

The new Ngong Ping 360 cable car goes from right near Tung Chung MTR metro station on Lamma, 5.7km up & around Lamma's peaks to the Po Lin Monastary and giant bronze budhha.
The trip is undeniably fantastic, with views of Hong Kong airport to one side. It's very smooth, but those afraid of heights should be aware!
The only downside is being dropped off in "Ngong Ping Village", actually a shopping village full of many of the same international brands elsewhere on HK (Starbucks etc). There's also a 'Monkey's Tale Theatre' and 'Walking With Buddha' experiences, which might keep easily distracted kids amused but otherwise are quite commercially crass against the backdrop of the huge, serene buddha.
Better might be to do what I did: take the ferry to Mui Wo, then the bus up the mountain. Just as cheap and more fun. You can then stop off for food in the village (assuming you've not eating cheaply at the monastary) before being whisked back by the cable car and metro.
Extraordinary remains of monumental civilization dating from 7Ad-13AD:Angkor wat is the most famous temple of the complex, and can be seen on Google earth satellite pics. There are a whole lot of temples, and a stay of at least 5-7 days is recommended. Best time to go is between Nov-March, but the rainy season, from July-October is also good. Great photo ops, and a fascinating culture and people, who, in spite of the Khmer Rouge years and civil war, are friendly and approachable. But be careful of bag snatchers, and children begging in Siem Reap town. Read some guidebooks like Lonely Planet, but dont believe everything it says.
Siem Reap is linked from Singapore on Jetstar airways, from Bangkok on Bangkok Airways, but this last is a very expensive flight.The Singapore link is recommended. There are lots of cheap accommodation in Siem Reap from $5 per day upwards.
For a super quick two-day weekend’s skiing, fly to Zurich and head to Flumserberg. With just a 45-minute transfer, you could fly in on a Saturday morning and hit the slopes by lunch. While its very much a local resort and you're unlikely to hear any other Brits, there's some nice off-piste in the tree line and plenty of winter hiking or husky sledging for non skiers. Best of all, the views are stunning.
This beautiful golf course is just outside Kenmare. I went there with 3 friends earlier this year and we had a great time. The course is challenging, the staff are friendly and the views are fantastic.
Lowestoft is on the east coast of England (in fact it's the most easterly point in the UK). Walking or cycling along the promenade is a fantastic experience.
The South Prom starts with a shingle beach to the south, at Pakefield. As you progress towards the centre of town the beach is made up of golden sand.
The North Prom isn’t quite so tourist focused, but well worth a wander, if only to walk directly under the sails of ‘Gulliver’ the largest wind turbine in the country.
This is the place to get that picture every one has got of someone holding up the leaning tower or that postcard of all three buildings, the tower, the baptistry and the Duomo or cathedral.
Staying here for a night to get your flight or stop off before you hit the rest of Tuscany can be a good diea. It will leave you refreshed and ready to see all the wonders this part of Italy has to offer.
A quiet private resort at Metung with many upper class town houses and cabins for couples and families. Set on the hill overlooking the lakeside at Metung, Mcmillans is walking distance (10 mins) from the town centre. Go and have a quiet comfortable weekend away. Highly recommended!

Get a rickshaw ride round Times Square. If you've never been to Times Square before you'll come out of the subway and be overwhelmed by it all. We found this a great way to soak it all up and it was definitely one of the funniest experiences we had in NY. We managed to get a 15-minute tour for $20, which I thought was a bargain (about £6 each between two people). You're bound to get a cool guy or girl with a story to tell who will give you a individual and real tour of the city - they live there after all. A lovely Israeli guy picked us up. Revel in being a proper tourist for a bit, being ferried round in the open air. You won't feel overly secure dodging in and out of the Times Square traffic but that was all part of it. If you don't take it too seriously, like a gondola ride in Venice, you will love it, laugh a lot and be glad you did it.
Just hail one down. Preferably choose the best looking one because you will have a view of their arse the whole time.
Killarney Riding Stables runs horseriding trips into Killarney National Park for 1-3 hours daily. They cater for all levels, from complete beginner to advanced riders. This is a wonderful way to see the beautiful countryside around Killarney and the stables have an excellent reputation.
They also run trail rides of two days or five days.

This seafood restaurant is about fifteen miles from Galway. It's in a wonderful location and is a superb place on summer evenings for a pint and some smoked salmon.

This cafe-restaurant also offers wine tastings and sells wine and the terrace overlooks the vineyards and karri forests beyond. It's a good place to stop for a glass of wine if you need to steady your nerves after climbing the Gloucester tree.
