A mini-studio located right off Via Giulia the location is absolutely fantastic for a solo traveler or couple who like to be independent and explore on foot. Of course there are still lots of buses, but Via Giulia is great because central as it is, it's all restricted traffic and really preserves the traditional Roman feel. What I really found charming was not just the structure and general feel of the apartment, but the loving way the owner restored it. He's a true Roman who really appreciates his own history, which is refreshing, and he preserved as much of the original structure as possible, including brick arches and the ruins of no less than three ancient dwellings in the floor that are now on display with found artifacts under a glass tile in the floor. It's just like having a personal museum to come home to! Aside from that, the owner is absolutely the sweetest, speaks wonderful English, cares for his guests like family, and leaves all the little extras you wouldn't necessarily want to travel with (coffee, sugar, olive oil, salt, pepper, etc) and leaves a lot of helpful info in the studio. It's comfortable, pretty, romantic, and in the best spot one could ask for. And the agency that rents it out is really pleasant too. I've used them before for friends and have always had positive results and perfect service so I do feel confident recommending them. It's also economical and a much better offer than B&B's in the area, and worth a stay!

Again, when you feel like really pampering yourself and giving yourself a five star holiday, L'Elisa is amazing. So peaceful, so relaxing, and really elegant. It's got every amenity you can dream of, and the wireless access throughout is great. I always love anywhere with a pool too, and it's truly beautiful to look at as well as swim in. The rooms are amazingly comfortable. I just love the sheer elegance of the place; decor, rich fabrics, it's got a very fairy tale feel to it, which goes with the general ambiance of Lucca itself, so it's very appropriate. Lucca is a wonderful place that should be experienced, and I've always enjoyed how conveniently close it is to Siena, Pisa, and other places I like to travel to. It's very nice when you need something a little less hectic. The fabulous thing here too was how great the staff were, they literally will help with every miniscule request you may have, and I think the service deserves a 6th star for the place. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

I've never actually been very big on spending extended periods in Milan, but sometimes I have to appease my cousin, and the last three times he really met me halfway since booking was up to him.
He got me a room at Hotel Straf, which was cool enough to almost change my opinion of Milan, and definitely gave me the best stay. The staff was really helpful and professional, but took it to the next level and was genuinely FRIENDLY, which I know can be difficult with large chain hotels in any corner of the world.
24-hour reception and a gym was a nice plus, and leave it to my cousin to find me the place with the best bar :-)
As much as I love Italy for its history and antiquity, as well as ornate elegance, I'm equally drawn to modern decor and this place blows me away each time. The rooms are all unique with their own little touches, which just makes it more fun on every visit. Each time a pleasant surprise awaits me, though I must say I'm honestly in love with the brass and the black stone bathrooms (I can't remember the suite numbers now, sorry!). And the bar having massage chairs and aromatherapy rooms? EXQUISITE, absolutely exquisite! Anyway, this is definitely the place to stay in Milan, and very central, and it's definitely the place I'll be on my next trip.
Also, the booking agency speaks perfect English and is very prompt, so if you don't speak Italian, you can do this all yourself with a really user friendly site and don't have to go through cousins! And of course the hotel staff itself is well versed in more than two languages!

My friend and I had a great birthday weekend at a LOVELY hotel in the historic centre of Napoli. The art, history, food, everything, it was just so spectacular and too much to soak up in only three short days, but our stay at this luxury hotel was worth it. Very pretty, very posh, and the pool terrace was absolutely amazing. Such views of the sea really enrapture me, and the decor was just so elegant throughout. Plus the company we booked through was very prompt and got us a great last minute rate. An excellent base in Napoli, especially if you want everything near you.

A lovely hotel/spa/resort in Lecce, this is an awesome place to really soak up the city.
Baroque beauty all around, with a delightful array of cuisine (including wonderful wines and olive oils), Lecce is architecturally stunning, and a fascinating place to visit. And of course, after a hard day's sightseeing, one deserves a bit of pampering and nature.
Sangiorgio is absolutely amazing, being made of a restored monastic asylum and set amongst groves of citrus and olive trees, as well as vineyards. Soaking in the scents on the breeze alone is enough to inspire a visit here, but the level of service provided as well as spa services themselves are exquisite.
Comfortable rooms, lovely grounds, a selection of pools, and a friendly staff make this a great find and the hotel restaurant with it's wine cellars is a DEFINITE can't miss as they house a large selection of fine wines. They pampered me very very well and I fully intend to return as soon as I can... and enjoy more wine!
It probably has a listing somewhere, but I booked through this site and it was very easy (the staff speaks English too): www.italiancollection.com/en/SanGiorgioResort-Lecce.html
A lovely little hotel on Via San Francesco a Ripa, the location is nothing short of ideal. Minutes to the historic centre on foot or tram and Trastevere itself, it is the perfect area to be if you like eating and drinking like a real Roman, and not paying like a tourist!
The hotel itself is really unique. While most places can be kind of bland and lack personality, or maybe maintain a kind of centuries-ago antique elegance that can be imposing or stuffy when it's all you see, Ripa has a sleek, almost futuristic vibe to it. Simple and minimalistic, yet possessing an understated elegance all its own, it's almost reminiscent of A Clockwork Orange and has true character.
All this at an affordable price with friendly staff, ready to help guests in any way and arrange any service one needs, Ripa is a true find!
