Go upstairs to main cafe, inspect calorie-stuffed cream / chocolate / cake concoctions in chiller unit, order by number from the table (preferably with Viennese coffee). Don't eat the small bags of nuts on the table - they'll charge you!

Includes bar, restaurant and cafe, as well as concert hall and other facilities (guided tours available).
Quirky restaurant with a fixation for things made with oranges and walnuts - particularly the liqueurs de maison. Really good meal here in October 2005. Very welcoming and a real authentic Parisian eatery in the old-fashioned sense, with a varied and interesting menu. Opens about 7.30pm (except Sundays) and Tuesday-Friday lunchtimes. Try it.

Good quality, friendly Italian restaurant (but no jokes about horses' heads!). Four of us ate here in Sept 2005 - 5-course meal, 2 bottles of wine - 1,850Kr (about £45). Ground floor if you want to pose with the beautiful young things of Prague (and the smokers), down in the basement for a quieter, smoke-free meal. Really very good quality, as well as good value. Try it.

Just around the corner, in a new shopping mall, you can find both Carrefour and M&S!
