    Liseberg

Posted by AngelaCosic 12 October 2006

In the spring, summer or autumn, go to Liseberg - Sweden's largest amusement park which is unusually tasteful and un-tacky. Make sure you try 'Balder', Scandinavia's biggest wooden rollercoaster. In the winter go to the Christmas markets at Liseberg.

    Beautiful beaches

Posted by AngelaCosic 12 October 2006

The province of Skane has absolutely stunning wide white sandy beaches, and the water can reach 25 degrees in the height of summer! One of the best ones is Falsterbo.

Falsterbo beach is around 20 miles south of Malmo.

    Stockholm Archipelago

Posted by AngelaCosic 12 October 2006

In the summer take a boat to one of the 24,000 islands - even if it's just for lunch. One of the best nearby islands is Grinda which has a restaurant on it.

    Hot dogs

Posted by AngelaCosic 12 October 2006

All visitors must try a hot dog whilst in Sweden as they are amazing. Get a 'grillad korv med brod med ketchup och senap och rostad lok' (grilled in a bun with ketchup, mustard and dry roasted onion). One of the best places in Stockholm is Ostermalm’s Grillen on Ostermalms Torg.

    Mushroom picking

Posted by AngelaCosic 12 October 2006

Go mushroom picking between August and October. You can find lots of edible mushrooms including chanterelles. The Royal Hunting Museum in Vanersborg, a nature reserve on Lake Varnern, is a good place to go and they offer four-hour mushroom picking excursions led by Ola Salin, the museum’s professional nature guide.

Vanersborg is around 50 miles north of Gothenburg
