    Victoria Hotels

Posted by AzCaz 19 January 2010

Victoria is a French owned four-star aiming for five-star hotel. The setting is good - end of development and quiet. Bungalows well spaced out. Food quite expensive so if you don't want to pay, jump in a taxi for a £1 and go down to the large choice off the main strip. Go now before it becomes over developed

    Cho Lon District (Chinatown) Market

Posted by AzCaz 19 January 2010

Much better than Ben Thanh Market. It's far less touristy and the prices are even cheaper. Good quality and not so much haggling needed.

    Vidotours

Posted by AzCaz 19 January 2010

This is a local tour operator which organised a fantastic 24 hour tour of the Mekong Delta on a sampan which had two double beds.

    Ancient House Hotel

Posted by AzCaz 19 January 2010

A good quality locally owned hotel, about 10 mins walk from the centre of Hoi An. Good clean pool is a bonus and the staff are very helpful. Great value.

Posted by AzCaz 10 September 2009

Good value B&B ( for the area). Clean and the owner is genuinely caring. Shared bathrooms though. Good location next to Live & Kicking lobsters. Fresh, cheap and local lobsters. Also near fantastic wholefoods supermarket

Puttnam St Cambridge mid way between Central and Harvard Sq on the Red line. 10 mins walk from either. Bus route, 2 mins

    Charlie Card for subway/buses

Posted by AzCaz 18 August 2009

Staggeringly cheap way of getting round - $15 for 7 full days - even timed. Connections between buses/subway excellent. Get into Boston/Cambridge for a few dollars from the airport. Machine at the airport.

    Cycling around the walls

Posted by AzCaz 11 October 2006

Rough Guide says that the walls have not been restored completely, well they have and very impressive. Hire a bike to cycle all the way around when you climb up onto the top. It takes about 40 mins if you are a reasonable cyclist. Bumpy at times but very much worth it!
