Beautiful Christmas markets in a picturesque setting where you can follow climbing a snow laden hill to a stunning fortress with a warming and fortifying drink of gluhwein to power you through the atmospheric market selling a vast array of hand crafts and delicious foods.
A beautiful and usually peaceful gorge with well-maintained walkways that take you through the heart of the gorge and undulate their way along the path of the deep turquoise water.
The moderate fee involved is definitely worth it and the gorge makes a nice short trip if you are based in Bled. You can even walk there, although it is quite a long journey with not too simple a route to follow.

They pale in size compared to the mega-monoliths but the sheer number of variety in the ancient and weathered Dolmens in the area is incredible. You have to wander through fields and woods to find them all. You could even have a competition to see who finds all 442 recorded dolmens first!
One of only three aragonite caves in the world open to the public. It is a beautiful and amazing experience to wander through this small but incredibly colourful and delicate cave. You can't help but be reminded of the crystals you could make as a child with a Christmas bought chemistry set.
Nearest main town is Roznava. There is poor public transport.

Incredibly ancient monolith that pre-dates Stonehenge by a couple of thousand years. In process of minor restoration but usually few visitors and a perfect visual representation of history itself.
