Located in the south west up-country of Chios island, Mesta is a well preserved Byzantine village, with houses all tied tightly together in a closed and compact form and cobbled and narrow streets.
You feel like you are back centuries in the past, in another ancient world. People who live there are very kind and outgoing, and say “hello” to everyone they meet. It happened to me to join a party in a hidden street, where some people were singing traditional songs, clapping hands and dancing. Very charming atmosphere!
