    A Travessa

Posted by GavinCollins 25 July 2011

A lovely, relaxed restaurant in a former convent fuses incredible food with a warm atmosphere. Very romantic, reasonably priced and inventive; you're presented with an assortment of incredible starters for 12 euros - don't be scared.
Some of the best food we've eaten abroad, well worth the effort to find it, even if it took our cabbie four stops to ask for help!

    Serere Sanctuary

Posted by GavinCollins 13 August 2008

Serere lodge is the ecology project of Madidi Travel to recover a reserve of flood plain in the Bolivian rainforest (one of the Amazon's major tributaries).

We spent four blissful days at the lodge, got to within a stone's throw of various monkeys, snakes etc. and some of the most amazing flora I've ever seen. However, the kicker is every penny of your money goes into the project and helps re-establish the community and wildlife from a shadow of its former self.

    Fatal Restaurant

Posted by GavinCollins 3 June 2008

Fatal actually means wooden plate in Hungarian but the portions may well prove life-threatening.

Located in Pest off the Vaci Utca, the restaurant is easy to find, cheap and offers huge traditional meals, mostly cooked and served in the dish dish, atop of a wooden plate.

I had the pork knuckle and only got halfway - highly recommended but book in advance if you're going in the evening.

Address: 1056 Budapest, Vaci utca 67.

    Travel Shack Vienna

Posted by GavinCollins 27 May 2008

Franz and Adam at the Travel Shack were invaluable in organising the best way to see the city. They found us a great hostel, took us on bike ride of the city, a wicked vineyard tour to say the least.

Also great to meet people in their bar, I can't recommend it highly enough!
